Civil wars are usually fight for freedom, independence or power. Why would the group that holds all the power want a civil war? Do they literally just want to kill their political opponents?

All the democrat controlled media.
A media propaganda machine is critical to the democrats pushing an agenda with few backers. the media makes it seem like the whole country is for the democrat/socialist agenda.
CA wants to break from the union. So who is talking civil war.
BLM is moaning about civil war statues, depriving the country of symbols of healing after suffering through a rift where brother fought brother. Other countries hold grudges for centuries. the US healed.

Because they wanted what was not theirs...sort of like the way they wanted to buy and sell people which, according to our national creed, were not theirs. I don't see specific language in the Constitution saying that people can own other people - the opposite in fact.
Owning people was so important to them that they felt it was worth dying for...and even sending 100's of thousands who didn't own slaves to die "for the planter class". You'd think they'd realize they were used at some point, but lack of education, hookworm and other problems have always kept things somewhat slow to change down there.
Even today, SC can claim near tops in the nation in property crime and even violent crime. Congratulations.

That's false......just because somebody has an "R" by their names doesn't make them right wing conservative. There are moderate/liberals in the GOP, especially in blue states.
Nobody is talking about a Civil War (yet ).....all we are saying if we impose the stupid gun controls and void the 2nd amendment like many in the left wants, we will have a civil war in the streets because there is NO WAY in hell the government will confiscate over 350 million firearms in 50 states from millions of law-abiding Americans in millions of homes peacefully.

Go ask Washington and Jefferson why they didn't prohibit in the constitution, maybe because they had slaves themselves and knew that the country was broke after the revolutionary war and the government needed the revenues from the slave economy to pay back the debt.
The same reason Lincoln waged war in the South because it was about taxes $$$$$ and control and the North needed the South's revenue and it had nothing to do about freeing black slaves.
