Words are one of the only ways we have to communicate, in a very specific manner, our ideas, thoughts, emotions, etc.

It's the words and what is being communicated by those words.

I like John Goodman but any show that brings back a dead character deserves to be cancelled. As for Roseanne Barr...never a fan and she should be very embarrassed for such obvious pandering to the racists and radical righties....bye bye and have a fun time explaining to the rest of the cast how and why you ****ed up their income.

Does it really matter though that Roseanne Barr is a loudmouth who just tweeted herself out of a show? I mean - how and why should that matter to me? She didn't call me an ape. Why should I invest myself into a furor over someone else's big mouth?

Ok let me make sure I get the liberal rules straight. You can't post racist tweets which I agree with but you can post racist tweets against white and attack whites.

Kathy Griffin's career was also pretty much ruined because of that, she even admits that herself now. So yeah, there was plenty of outrage when that happened.

Despite the hoopla about her show celebrating Republican/conservative values, as opposed to all the shows celebrating liberal lifestyles, you have to wonder.

Plot points:

Roseanne needs knee surgery but they don't have health insurance so she takes pain pills that she and Dan divide between them, as they do their other medications, in order to stretch them over a longer period of time.

Becky is 40 years old and working as a waitress at a Mexican restaurant. Darlene is unemployed until she gets a job waitressing at a floating casino. D.J.? No idea what his job is other than raising his daughter while military wife is deployed. Roseanne is an Uber driver.

Dan is a union drywall guy who is going through hard times. Non-union outfits are underbidding, no health insurance, ...

In the season finale, this conservative family is celebrating a flood in hopes that government will bail them out of their financial bind with national disaster FEMA grants.

It would be easy to view Roseanne as poking fun at this conservative family where none of middle-aged kids have the education or skills to hold down anything but waitressing jobs. The rug is being pulled out from under Dan's union job. No one has health insurance except D.J. and his daughter because of his deployed military spouse.

And in the end, this proud, independent, but barely competent conservative family is hoping the government will bail them out of their troubles.

Hardly seems like a celebration of conservative values.

More like a weekly advertisement for why we need national health care, vocational support, strong unions, ...
I thought the exact same thing, Roseanne Barr may herself feel like that, but it's obvious some of her writers are very liberal. It's very nuanced, but it does very much feel you're watching a social discussion piece more so than a sitcom geared towards conservatives. I don't think the bulk of them are smart enough to pick up on it though.

I rarely watched Rosanne the first time it was on. I could not get myself to watch the first fifteen minutes of the new Rosanne, so I could care less about the fate of the show. I never thought Rosanne Barr was that funny.

Because we have a right to express our opinions on things going on in our society. And please feel free not to invest yourself in the furor. No one is asking you to.
