Bill Mahr should have used the Standard Leftist Defense.

It's only a JOKE, when a Leftist tells is ...... otherwise, it's defamation and you must be FIRED for it.

Anyone want to provide a list of the nightly/daily "jokes" about Donald Trump and every member of his family?
Roseanne was dumb to say such a thing - she should know the "rules". Leftists can say, or write anything the choose about a Conservative, even if that Conservative is the President of the USA or his family.
In other words - First Amendment Rights for ME and not for Thee ..... based on Leftist Politics.

A Conservative will lose their job if they dare to say anything about a Leftist - even if they are Comedians.
I always think it's a Joke when a business cuts off it's nose to spite it's face. The NFL is reaping the rewards of that.

Roseanne has been averaging a 5.5 rating among adults 18-49 and 19.3 million viewers with live-plus-three day lifts. With a full week of time-shifting, those numbers climb to a 6.4 rating in the key demo and 22.1 million viewers. Either way, Roseanne is the highest-rated and most-watched series of the broadcast season, eclipsing NBC's This Is Us and CBS' Big Bang Theory which had been in a heated battle for top status. ~. [b]
She wasn't fired for making defamatory statements.
She was fired for making a racist statement.
I didn't expect it, and am actually surprised, but it looks like corporations have decided to step up to the plate to guard the moral fabric of this country while we're lacking a President who's capable.

The name of the show is "Roseanne." Anyone remember the show "Valerie" with Valerie Harper? She had a salary dispute with the network. They fired her after the second season, tried to claim the character had died (not on camera), brought the show back as "Valerie's Family," then renamed it a third time as "The Hogan Family" with Sandy Duncan (the sister-in-law) as the star, then "The Hogan Family" was canceled.

Point being, don't put the lead character's/actress' name as the title of the show. You never know.

Welp. That didn't take long.

Roseanne can climb back under that rock; she wasn't missed before and she won't be missed now.

I'm not her mother I'm not concerned with what she SHOULD do. You are arguing a point that, to me, is irrelevant.

I think there has been a loosening of the PC reins of late.

Trump flogs one bogus conspiracy theories after another. Half a dozen tweets this morning on his spy nonsense. Accused Obama of a felony. Insults people left and right. When he gets called on it, he takes a step back and claims he was misunderstood.

Roseanne was the top rated show of the season and had just been renewed for another season. Given that and the current climate of acceptance of "free speech," she probably thought she was good to go.

She'll land on her feet. She always does.
