This was according to Congressman Jim Jordan on a Fox News interview, he has little credibility. What's the rush, the IG report will be completed shortly and have some real facts.
If speculating and expressing opinions based on what multiple media reports from the entire political spectrum are stating -- that the IG report alleges McCabe was not candid multiple times, the OPR recommended he be fired --- isn't your cup of tea, wait for the report. Simple.
He later corrected his statement, unprompted. Far from a charge of perjury.
Now where have we seen a 'later clarification of testimony' before? Should I read off a list of Trump administration personnel for you, or do you get my point?
You GUESS? Andrew McCabe forgot about his paper trail?
If it's all right with you, I'd rather see the actual report, than rely upon second hand information about the report and third hand guesses about motivations.
It's interesting that McCabe said he didn't leak to the media two separate times.
The interesting part is McCabe changed his story after Strzok, and Paige were outed, and removed from Mueller's team.
McCabe knew the IG found Strzok, and Paige's text messages, and he knew he was busted lying, so he attempted to change his story.
It looks like Andrew McCabe lied four times about leaking information to the media, including twice while under oath.
Jordan said the report reveals that McCabe lied four times about leaking information to the press: once to the Office of Professional Responsibility, once to former FBI Director James Comey and twice under oath to the inspector general.
Media from the left, right, middle, are telling us the reports allege that McCabe lacked candor multiple times. Not often do CNN, NYTimes, WaPo coincide with media from the right. I don't expect the reports to use the word lie or lied. Those words will be for when McCabe is prosecuted.
The email chain with Comey has zip to do with whether or not McCabe at first denied he approved of the FBI talks with the WSJ. In fact, if the CNN sources are correct, the emails are proof that McCabe did fib to the FBI investigators and IG. Unless, of course, he didn't recall those emails when he testified, or the people who took his testimony 'misunderstood.'
I admit when I'm GUESSING. You claim McCabe corrected his testimony 'unprompted.' That's a guess, unless you've seen the reports.
Saying McCabe lacked candor is IMO not the same as McCabe committed perjury, which is what this thread claims. As none of the media, left, center or right, has seen the internal reports, jumping on the "McCabe lied" bandwagon is simply pushing a crafted story.
Lot of people "guessing" on this thread - until the internal reports are released it's all simply speculation masquerading as "truth".
Lack of candor and lying are two different behaviors by definition of federal employment. For lack of candor:
Quote:
Sometimes federal agencies attempt to discipline its employees with the very subjective allegation of the employee’s “lack of candor”. The charges are sometimes misplaced or overused based upon the difficulties in establishing just what is required to prove the charge.
To begin with, lack of candor and falsification are distinct charges. Falsification “involves an affirmative misrepresentation and requires intent to deceive,” lack of candor, by contrast, “is a broader and more flexible concept whose contours and elements depend on the particular context and conduct involved.”
For example, lack of candor need not involve an affirmative misrepresentation, but “may involve a failure to disclose something that, in the circumstances, should have been disclosed to make the statement accurate and complete.”
Furthermore, while lack of candor “necessarily involves an element of deception, ‘intent to deceive’ is not a separate element of the offense—as it is for falsification.”
It would be nice to see what the IG report says before passing judgement. If McCabe is fired for lying then does that mean Trump should be fired for lying? How about Kushner? Sessions? Flynn was supposedly fired for lying to Pence. Okay everybody who lied should be fired!
You mean hold people acoountable? Americans aren't very good at doing that.

Any government official who lies should lose their job.
This is getting out of hand.
Out of hand is this ridiculous fallacy that because one person [McCabe] deserves to be fired for lying then Everyone who lies deserves to be fired. There's probably a Latin name for that fallacy in logic or debate that translates to Makes No Sense in English.
