It's weird but I've hired contractors numerous times to do renovations and additions on my house over the last 20 years. I've never yet had a contractor show up with a crew of illegal immigrants, or even a crew of majority Hispanic workers. And I live right by the border. Maybe I've just been lucky?
How do you know they weren't illegal aliens? Did you check the credentials of all of them?
Four rules of engagement can ensure that soldiers do not clash with innocent US citizens:
1) Soldiers will not enter private property without permission of the landowner.
2) Soldiers will only conduct surveillance on Mexico, Canada, or international waters to detect persons entering the USA illegally. They will not conduct intelligence missions at targets within the USA, even at the request of law enforcement agencies.
3) Soldiers will only confront or detain persons who they directly observe entering the USA illegally. They will not confront or detain persons who they suspect have crossed the border illegally.
4) Soldiers will not directly assist other government agencies along the border on a routine basis"
Does anyone find it creepy that some nut jobs are talking about having "Rules of Engagement" for US troops operating inside the borders of our country? Some people are sure making a mountain out of mouse **** regarding illegal immigration. Seems to me we have many more important issues that we can get our panties in a wad over.
And some people act like no president has ever, in the history of American presidencies, suggested same before.
This sense that American history began with his inauguration is rather mind-boggling.
And no matter how often actual historical facts are offered, they are simply ignored because they don't fit the desired narrative.
The $64,000 question is: does Trump actually know the difference between the National Guard and other military forces?
If so, why didn't he just say "National Guard?"

Illegal immigration is just as an important of an issue as any others are. You might want to bone up on the huge negative impact it has on our nation including having unsecured borders and the very negative impact that has on our nation.

They are called "reserves" for a reason. When the National Guard are federalized under Title 10, there is no distinction, they are the United States Military.

18 US Code 1385 forbids the use of federal troops to enforce domestic laws except in cases and under circumstances expressly authorized by the Constitution or Act of Congress.
If the congress approved it, then yes, we can certainly use the military to secure the border. What makes you think the congress won't approve it?
No, the wall is not a waste of money. How many times do I have to prove it? A physical barrier helps our Border Patrol immensely. We have 2,000 miles of border with Mexico. How many Border Patrol agents would we need to cover every square inch of it, the expense of it plus the danger to those officers? We are only asking for the 700 miles of good wall to be completed along the most porous areas of our border as promised by congress back in 2006. The rest of the border has natural barriers to illegal entry and that's where the Border Patrol can focus their efforts. It's also cost effective when you consider that illegal aliens cost us over $100 billion a year.
You state that as a fact yet it is a highly debatable figure. Some very questionable assumptions were made to come up with that number.
