You are armed and ready to attack some intruder? Not getting into my past as a young woman in NYC, but now live in a fairly rural area of Pa.

My neighbors next to me are Vets or Active Duty Military. Both have multiple guns in their home, yet they both have Sensor Lights, Video Cameras, and Alarms outside their homes. WHY? Both are fully trained in the use of arms. Why spend all that $$$ for outside protection to keep the "bad guy with a gun" from breaking into your home when you have multiple guns in your own home? You mean you aren't frothing at the mouth to shoot a bad guy with a gun????

Forget my armed almost 70 year old husband. He has Parkinson's and can barely walk and his hands shake when he eats with a fork. His gun is going to protect him too?

I do not understand the power you people feel with your guns.

Edit: My neighbor has a cool video of a break in. Black Bear breaking into his Garbage Cans.

The vast, vast majority of gun owners hope they never have to use a gun in self defense. That's why most of us have security systems, lights, dogs, etc. It is the absolute LAST resort to use a gun, and even it the shoot is legal, you could be spending hundreds of thousands in legal fees, and court costs. Not to mention the horrible memory of potentially taking someone's life which lasts as long as you do.

And when, and why would he do that?

this. OP its about being ready in case you need to defend yourself. as the boy scouts always drill into their charges, be prepared. remember that when seconds count, the cops are only minutes away. these sound like platitudes, but then reality sets in and you realize the very possibility that someone may intrude on your utopian dreams, and cause harm to you or your family.

like pilot said, we dont want to actually hurt someone if we dont have to. in fact we would prefer that no one bother with our home, that way we dont have to hurt someone. but by the same token, if they do decide to intrude on my home, and threaten me or my family, then katy bar the door because i will respond with enough force to stop them.

Sounds like the OP’s issue is with her neighbors and her husband.

Whichever may be the case...this isn’t the proper venue to host that discussion.

I'll bet you dollars to donuts, your neighbors, being military, when in the "field", even set out some claymores before they cuddle up with their M-16 for the night.

^^Exactly. The neighbor is a responsible gun owner.
