Contempt of Congress carries max of 12k fine and 12 mo in jail
Refusing to answer supoena to appear or answer questions
It's not his power to decide if the questions are appropriate
He should be charged
Let court decide the relevancy
Others have answered or refused but no one I know of resorted to profanity
And I say again--it was a female member he insulted in that manner
Just symptomatic of his mysogeny

amendment five of the constitution;

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

note it doesnt say unless in front of congress.

And yet nothing happened to former Attorney General Eric Holder.

The law only applies to Republicans.

Do as Dems say, not as they do.

Steve Bannon refused to answer questions
Others have refused to answer questions
It is not so much that he refused---
My comment is based on the WAY Lewandowski chose to do that--
Profanity directed to a member of the Congressional committee and specifically to a female Congresswoman

https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/contempt_of_congress

Congress has the authority to hold a person in contempt if the person's conduct or action obstructs the proceedings of Congress or, more usually, an inquiry by a committee of Congress.

Contempt of Congress is defined in statute, 2 U.S.C.A. § 192, enacted in 1938, which states that any person who is summoned before Congress who "willfully makes default, or who, having appeared, refuses to answer any question pertinent to the question under inquiry" shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and subject to a maximum $1,000 fine and 12 month imprisonment.

Before a Congressional witness may be convicted of contempt, it must be established that the matter under investigation is a subject which Congress has constitutional power to legislate.

Generally, the same Constitutional rights against self-incrimination that apply in a judicial setting apply when one is testifying before Congress.

Caselaw

Quinn v. U.S., 349 U.S. 155, 75 S. Ct. 668, 99 L. Ed. 964, 51 A.L.R.2d 1157 (1955).

Fields v. U.S., 164 F.2d 97 (App. D.C. 1947).

If you bothered to understand the law--no one would be taking away Lewandowski's RIGHTS--
But Congress also has authority
A blanket refusal and Lewandowski's opinion about the legitimacy of the question is not sufficient to permit him to react that way
Your guy is a jerk
He learned from Trump, his master
Don't try to cloak what he did as anything but being a jerk...
I don't think he even brought an attorney to the proceedings so he was acting based on his own stupid emotional knee-jerk protective assessment---
He ain't smart...and he still wants the Prez to like him...

I guess all you weenie whistles didn't bother to look into the whole story, as in Democrat congressmen asking Lewandowski what happened inside Trump's campaign - - - AFTER HE LEFT. Yeah, I wouldn't answer their f--king questions either.
