Don't equate Hastert's criminal and amoral use of power to abuse young men w/mormal LBGT behavior
There is nothing wrong with being gay
There is everything wrong with being a pervert

As is frequently the case, your thread title is highly misleading. They have not banned gays from the convention.

Exactly. I know exactly one gay Republican; a high school friend living in Florida. Dumb as a box of rocks when it comes to politics.

He is joining a club where he is obviously not wanted.

No they arent
The. Jews who were involved with the Holocaust knew any option they had was totally controlled by the Nazi
Therefore their choice was Sophie's choice--or actually no choice
The Nazi used their power as a club in any way to make vulnerable people feel complicity as victims

But the Log Cabin Republican group doesn't risk death as the Jews did

The GOP is a private organization. And gay people are not a protected class.

It does seem odd that the Log Cabin folks still remain Republican, but oh well.

Note - the GOP has not banned individual gay people from attending the convention or even being delegates or otherwise being active. It has just banned the Log Cabin Rs from having their own booth. Still awful, IMO, but not as bad as it could be.

The Log Cabin Republicans, a group of gay Republicans who advocate for LGBT rights within the GOP, have long struggled to gain acceptance from the party.

I have to say as a conservative (oh well, Republican), I found banning them to be completely unacceptable. I don't believe ALL Republicans or the party hate gays. I can care less about what people do behind closed doors. I don't believe being gay is a choice. I don't know why being gay is such a big deal to some people.

i don't know why SOME religious Conservatives So Freaked Out by Gays. I am a Christian, I am a conservative, I am a registered Republican. I think some fellow conservative should really just mind their own business. The society has moved one, obviously.

A very reasonable stance. Unfortunately for you, your party has allowed the evangelicals to take control, and this is the result. The GOP would be so much better off if they would wrest control of the party back from the pretend Christians. As you said, society has moved on, but the pretend Christians are still stuck in the old world thinking and have no desire to move forward. It's going to kill the Republican party, because the up and coming generations are not so neolithic in their beliefs.
