And no, getting Kim to the table is not progress, it's the opposite as a matter of fact. Kim and his predecessors have been trying to get this meeting for decades. Other presidents held out for multilateral talks, while North Korea wanted one on one with the US. Gee, look who won this round.....
More intellectual dishonesty. You are simply determined to lie to yourself and everyone else, to downplay this as much as possible. As I said, I'll take the word of the Secretary of Defense, the current Secretary of State AND former Director of the CIA AND the National Security advisor who have worked endlessly to prepare for this meeting to skeptics and partisan hacks any day of the week.

If you think that these US officials just met with them without any preliminary agreements to denuclearize--then I don't know what else to tell you.

Btw, Who are your sources? Alec Baldwin, Jay Z and, Bill Maher? :eyesroll:

And yes, getting Kim to the table is progress towards building a comprehensive deal as a step in the right direction. How anyone can deny that is mind boggling. Previous attempts at bilateral talks did not get NK to agree to full denuclearilization--this one did. Nor did they have as many heads of state involved in making this come to fruition--this one did.

If Xi, Abe, and Moon are happy with the direction of things with its current direction and momentum--you can put your ego aside and be satisfied with it too.

Questioning as to what's next is fine, but actively routing against your own interests is not. And World Peace is in everyone's best interest at this time.

don't forget if you become our ally and trade with us and enjoy good relations for decades and chose to become part of our sphere of influence rather than our biggest rival we will sell your down the river and thrown you under the bus at the drop of a hat....always a good move too.

I am more optimistic, not least because of the new SK president, who really seems to care.
Kim is also very different from his predecessors, a new generation.
And most of all, NK has no agenda left. They managed to make nukes. Great. But they can't eat their nukes, to put it this way. As they look around them, with China, SK, Singapore, Malaysia etc. booming, they know there is no point in continuing their isolation.

This is modern diplomacy. What a deal.
Yet after Pearl Harbor, Japan is our Ally. China was our best buddy when we were fighting the Japanese. As weird as it gets, peace can be had, even with a brutal dictator. It just takes skill. There is nothing modern about it. Just maybe you don't know as much as you think you do about foreign relations?

Nothing. You're the guys who did a complete 180, decided appeasement was the way to go and expect to be hailed as master diplomats for.

That is why I have come here, to the heart of a free and flourishing Korea, with a message for the peace-loving nations of the world: The time for excuses is over. Now is the time for strength. If you want peace, you must stand strong at all times. (Applause.) The world cannot tolerate the menace of a rogue regime that threatens with nuclear devastation.

All responsible nations must join forces to isolate the brutal regime of North Korea — to deny it and any form — any form of it. You cannot support, you cannot supply, you cannot accept. We call on every nation, including China and Russia, to fully implement U.N. Security Council resolutions, downgrade diplomatic relations with the regime, and sever all ties of trade and technology.
That was Trump. In November. And it's just a snippet.

Human rights?

Quote:
A small infraction by one citizen, such as accidently staining a picture of the tyrant printed in a discarded newspaper, can wreck the social credit rank of his entire family for many decades.

An estimated 100,000 North Koreans suffer in gulags, toiling in forced labor, and enduring torture, starvation, rape, and murder on a constant basis.

In one known instance, a 9-year-old boy was imprisoned for 10 years because his grandfather was accused of treason. In another, a student was beaten in school for forgetting a single detail about the life of Kim Jong-un.

Soldiers have kidnapped foreigners and forced them to work as language tutors for North Korean spies.

In the part of Korea that was a stronghold for Christianity before the war, Christians and other people of faith who are found praying or holding a religious book of any kind are now detained, tortured, and in many cases, even executed.

North Korean women are forced to abort babies that are considered ethnically inferior. And if these babies are born, the newborns are murdered.

One woman’s baby born to a Chinese father was taken away in a bucket. The guards said it did not “deserve to live because it was impure.”

So - what has happened in NK since trump was elected that was not happening in NK prior to trumps election?

Even Obama ex-Singapore ambassador disagrees with all you on the left...

Quote:
should be a viewed as a positive development but is unlikely to be a "momentous event," said Kirk Wagar, U.S. ambassador to Singapore under former President Barack Obama.
"This is a very good thing," Wagar told CNBC's "Squawk Box" on Monday. But he said that any past U.S. president could have gotten a one-on-one meeting with the leader of North Korea.

Hannity interviewed Trump in Singapore and it will be shown tonight on Fox at 6:00pm PT, 9:00pm ET. Don't just watch opposition media clips telling you what to think. Watch the entire interview. THEN... watch opposition media to see how they will spin it. Very educational.
