The dog was to be put down, but after more than 250,000 people signed a petition titled Let Chico Live, Udo Möller, a city spokesman, said authorities were ready to admit they had made mistakes by failing to remove Chico from its owners, having recognised that they were overwhelmed by the dog, which had been trained to fight.
I am not so sure if the dog can find a owner who is experienced with this type of dog in reality world. We are not living in a fantasy world. Plus, the dog did kill both people (the owners).
Thoughts:
That's a lot of people on Chico's side.
If her husband had succeeded in killing her with the ax, would he have been executed.
A story about those particular people and dog was linked in another pit bulls bad thread. Lady in wheelchair with a son with learning disabilities gets a known fighting dog (which she kept in a cage) because she is afraid of her ex husband who attacked her with an axe. What could possibly go wrong.
I absolutely love dogs but there is no sense in keeping this one alive. Chico needs to be put down. Spending money on housing this dog in some sort of facility would be a waste; the money should be spent rescuing adoptable animals.

In the glorious socialist world, dogs have superior privileges.
Woof, woof !
