This nation will continue to run big deficits as long as all citizens and their congress persons take the easy way out. When trouble comes, expect the Feds to bail them out.

FEMA needs to go away today.
My town flooded twice in the last four years. Ordinarily that's about a hundred year flood. If it happens a third time there's something going on that isn't our fault that probably has to do with someone upstream building levies and building on swamp land that should have been used for farming because it's cheap and flat.

We need FEMA. We had help from government organizations. I believe they also let the kids out of school to sandbag. The whole area was so crowded with workers from our town and surrounding areas that there were limited things for newcomers to do. The government helped a lot insofar as guiding the people/bringing the trucks and things like that.

What they need is some kind of government regulation of levies so that it doesn't become a contest over who can build the highest and dump water onto everybody else. If people want to live in a swamp...fine...just so long as they don't dump the swamp onto other people who don't want to live in a swamp.

Government sucks.
Gore Vidal said it way back in the 1970's: The U.S. has, essentially, one political party. And in need of a 2nd political party!

Correct.

The only difference between the two parties is their position on social issues (god, guns, and gays). On economic issues, there’s little difference. Both parties are corporate wh—es who have sold out the country to special interests. And we become more like a third world country with every passing year.
