Political with hunt. Special Prosecutor working in secret to find a crime, in order to stage a soft coup d'etat of our Democratically elected President. Got it.
Yesterday Trump tweets what is the FBI hiding in relation to turning over documents subpoenaed last summer. Today the office and home of his personal lawyer is raided by the FBI and they seize privileged communications between Trump and His lawyer. There is some deep state BS happening here.
"Mueller brought information involving Cohen to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who decided that the matter should be handled by the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York rather than by Mueller’s team" .
Trump has spent months tearing down the integrity of DOJ, FBI and it’s employees. Finally pay back has arrived. A bit surprised though that the Ms. Daniels story was the first line of attack.
I am looking forward to getting home and reading about these events concerning Mr. Cohen.
Of course, part of me is disturbed that the search warrant apparently involved the seizure of 'attorney-client' privileged information.
Yet, it begs the question: which attorney-client privileged information?
Mr. Cohen does not have such a privilege with Ms. Daniels.
Mr. Trump refers to Mr. Cohen his 'my attorney'. However, Mr. Cohen has tried to thread the needle by claiming that the payment he made to Ms. Daniels, through a dummy corporation, was done without the knowledge of Mr. Trump, and without expectation of reimbursement.
In other words, there may be 'attorney-client' privilege concerning some aspects of the relationship between Mr. Cohen and Mr. Trump, but not others.
Anyway, interesting development.
I am not a lawyer, but have been hearing discussion stating that if the communication helps further a crime, it is not privileged.
Mueller kicked it over to the FBI so this is not apart of their investigation. You can't do this without DOJ Seal of Approval. Trump just appointed the Southern District of New York Attorney General Geoffrey S. Berman. They aren't going to haphazardly issue a search warrant on the President's fixer....they found something.
The fact that Trump appointed the attorney for the Southern District and Sessions makes this even more interesting. I can’t recall anything that compares to this, this must be significant criminal activity.
WaPo is reporting that the search is for bank fraud, wire fraud. Cohen has one client. Trump is going down.
