I think it’s great. I would do it under certain conditions (no drinking, no drugs, and I’d want a family with children or a woman... I have a daughter and would not want a single man living in my yard). It connects a person/family with nothing to an individual/family who has enough resources to share. I’m a huge belieber in making a difference for one person at a time in a big way, and this seems like a wonderful way to integrate the homeless with a family and community.
You can't have a socialist democracy / benevolent totalitarian police state / perpetually bankrupt system - AND - a constitution that guarantees a republican form of government, private property, and gun ownership by the people.

Something has got to go...
Well if it is up to the Democrats, the Media, Education, most of Government, and big corporations it will be the law abiding gun owners that have to go. They may have something to say about that, however.
how about the do something about the cost of living in California as a whole to help people afford homes?
The near perfect weather is a HUGE factor in the cost of living in southern CA, thats what draws so many homeless from other states as well, but not much anyone can do about that.
It sounds to me like they are trying to encourage people to increase the number of housing units in Southern California without bulldozing low-density neighborhoods to add high-density apartments.
The reason many of our highest cost of living areas are so expensive is because of lack of buildable land and already built-up environments. You run into situations where families who might have been doing fine become homeless because of job loss, illness, divorce, etc and then end up finding that rent has gone up FAR more than incomes. A friend is facing homelessness now in New England because her landlord only made nominal increases in rent over the past 5 years but is now selling the building. In 5 years, rent has increased by $500 a month and she is looking at having to move more than 30 miles away to find something she can afford - putting her 2 hours from her job. That's how many of the people a program like this is meant to help end up on the street. They're not addicts, mentally ill, or often even uneducated, but are priced out of a region that is growing faster than it can increase housing to support.
