I found great made in America candies at a dollar store. Even dark chocolate with blueberries. It was so nice to buy a treat for only a dollar. Candy bars in high end storew are junk and near $2 or more.

Dollar stores don't sell the products people need (fresh meats and produce) and the next time you are in one check the dates on the items, there is a reason they are only a dollar.

I've been inside a Walmart once during a road trip. It had a grocery selection, but the selection wasn't great. I imagine a dollar store's grocery selection would be even worse.
"There are no Walmarts or dollar stores in my city"

Is it REALLY a city?

NY City doesn't have any either but are right outside the city line.

How far is the nearest Wal-Mart?

What is a local grocer beyond small ethnic market?

Most “ local grocers are corporate chains , unique to geographical areas, seeking expansion.

I've no idea what people see in Dollar General. Very little is actually a dollar. Dollar Tree is a better option, and everything is a dollar.

I can't imagine these type stores could be a threat to major grocers. How could anyone manage a grocery list, out of dollar stores.

Dollar General isn't a full service grocery, but it is everywhere. If Dollar General wants to serve communities where there are no other stores, more power to them.

Value is not measured in price alone.

There is one in the same strip mall, a few doors down from the wifes brick & mortar shop. She will hit it for milk & bread.

Dollar Tree isn’t bad. We’ve got one...my son likes the prices of their canned goods.
