I'm sure that world events have a bit of bearing on it- the price has gone up recently on spot and futures market. Also, we are entering the season of heavier use, therefore less supply.

Americans are also complacent and some have stopped buying the most efficient cars they can - that means they use more gas, meaning the companies can raise prices (supply/demand).

Thank god we have Trump and not a Hillbag Clinton MAGA

President Donald Trump blasted the oil-producing cartel OPEC on Twitter on Friday.

"Looks like OPEC is at it again," he wrote. "With record amounts of Oil all over the place, including the fully loaded ships at sea, Oil prices are artificially Very High! No good and will not be accepted!"

Our prices in Arizona are going up in big chunks. It ain’t even pretending to be mildly incremental.

Maybe because I'm a climatologist? If you want details let me know. Everyone is a expert here on climate change apparently.

Right now the number of rigs being restarted is about 1/2 of the total in 2015. Rig count up to 1085, price should be dropping.
The rig count is a lagging indicator, responding to price signals sent by the market.

If oil prices increase and show some stability around a certain level, then the rig count will increase in response thereto, not the other way around.

The rig count doesn't directly influence the world market price of oil, contrary to the way you have expressed the relationship above.

Gas just went up 20 cents/gal here overnight. It's the same price at every station I passed this morning.

Inflation creeping up -- fueled by the rising cost of gas.

Opec reading Trump's tweet on Trump's displeasure with high oil prices will hit OPEC right in their fracking faces and oil prices will tumble MAGA
