People complain about $2.75 per gallon of gas yet willingly pay ridiculous sums for cell phones and data plans and hundreds per month for cable tv and internet.
Gasoline is the best deal going. Just the EPA alone costs a buck a gallon. Then there is billions in infrastructure. To be honest, I don’t know how they do it for less than 3 bucks a gallon.

Lucky you😒, our gas has gone up $0.70/gallon since January. And I as of this week am paying $3.29/gallon for 91 octane (car I recently bought requires it)

Throw in seasonal maintenance turnaround and the start of the summer driving season, and voila! Higher gasoline prices. Happens all the time. No big deal. Nothing is happening now that doesn't happen pretty much every year about this time.
And you can whine, cry and stamp your feet about how the big, bad oil companies are working you over, or how supply and demand has kicked your butt once again. None of these silly dodges will change the central reality, which is that you, the buyer, set the price of any commodity. Well, you and 3 to 4 billion of your fellow motorists around the world.
Maybe you and your fellow gasoline buyers could get together and stage a gasoline boycott. I hear that kind of thing is all the rage these days.
There currently is inelastic demand for gasoline, unless you live in New York City or San Francisco, where you can live a normal life without a car
I know with Bush 1 back around 1991 gas prices hit a record high. Then Bush 2 we saw gas prices at the worst ever. Anytime a pub is in office it goes up. These failed wars make it hard on us every time as when a gnat farts after a failed war prices go up.

People need cell phones, and cell phones need data plans.
As for cable, there’s no tv where I live without it, and most people would agree that internet access is a modern day necessity. You can’t even apply for a damn job anymore without it. I had to use it to update my passport recently, and send off for my visa. The internet isn’t a luxury in a first world nation.
Gasoline “is the best thing going?” Fine. But people want some rhyme or reason to its pricing.

I paid $3.12 yesterday, and with a 36 gallon tank that does add up, but it still beats the rationing we had in the early 70s, and it’s relatively cheap compared to cell phones, cable TV, and property taxes. If I were a conspiracy person, I might suspect an effort to unload all of those economy cars, hybrids and EVs sitting on the dealer’s lots.
