Yeah, not sure why anyone would think this is a bad thing. It would cost about $65 billion annually to pay public school tuition for every college student in America. That's a drop in the bucket when talking about the federal budget. It wouldn't get much resistance outside of RW diehards since the extra taxes is a great deal for middle-class families compared to the alternative (paying out of pocket).

As the article states, reparations aren't seriously being considered. That being said, I say bring on the other two. It's long past time that this country join the rest of the first world nations and provide universal healthcare to its citizenry. I would support this platform 110%!!!

Add all those socialist countries up and we get about 257 million..think about the cost between giving free insurance for a country of 36 million vs 320 million..
We also have a tax base that is much larger than those countries because our population is so much higher. We could cut the defense budget in half, still outspend the rest of the world by a large margin, and take care of our own citizens, which is how every other civilized nation on the planet manages to do it. They don't give away billions upon billions of their dollars to feed the insatiable military industrial complex, which leaves them money to care for their citizens.

But here in the U.S. we outspend the next 10 countries combined on the military and it's STILL not deemed enough by many on the right, who then stridently insist that we don't have the money left to take care of our own people.

It comes down to priorities, and the politicians have made it very clear that keeping the MIC well fed is more important than taking care of Americans.

Is it the politicians or the voters? I for one can say I've only ever voted for anti-war candidates for at the federal level in my voting life. The candidates are there, its the people who conveniently overlook them though.

You going to reimburse everyone else who earned money and paid for college themselves? The govt. (that's us taxpayers) also doesn't get money for SS or medicare if people don't have to earn anything you want to give away for free. Ever think of that? didn't think so. Socialism is great until you run out of other peoples money... just ask folks in Europe how they think things are working out right about now...

And also half of the rest of the world that benefits from our overspending to play world police and charity when disaster strikes.

I guess this type of thinking takes hold at the end of a grand experiment with financial engineering.
They start with New York where working class people still live in older subdivisions, sitting on half million dollar properties their grand dads bought for peanuts under the GI bill. Always try your experiments on the working class first.
