Interesting.....

https://www.npr.org/2018/04/20/60413...lize-marijuana

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., plans to introduce legislation on Friday to decriminalize marijuana on the federal level, adding a high-profile advocate in the effort to decriminalize, legalize and normalize marijuana use in America.

Schumer's legislation would remove marijuana from the list of scheduled substances under a 1970 law that classifies marijuana as dangerous as heroin for legal and regulatory purposes. It would establish funding for women- and minority-owned marijuana businesses, require more research on the drug's public health impact, and maintain federal authority to regulate commercial advertising, similar to existing regulations for tobacco and alcohol.

That's the right way to do it, not this patch work of state overreach. Get the Feds out of it and let the states decide on their own LEGALLY.

I don't smoke but it seems like it would be a boon in tax revenue.

I mean, why ban the gun? The gun doesn't hurt anybody. People using guns hurt people.

Wait, sorry. Wrong thread. I mean...

Why ban marijuana? Marijuana doesn't hurt anybody. People using marijuana...uh... don't hurt people? Or even if they did, well I'm sure you follow the logic.

It's a game.

Schumer doesn't want that. He just wants the Republicans to either not allow a vote or vote against it, so that he can lay claim to being on the side of the people.
It'll work, to one degree or another.

You're probably right. I bet if the R's voted for it he would vote against his own bill to keep it from passing then cite the R's that didn't vote for it as the cause.

It has small chance of being heard as long as Rs control Congress. But - good for him!

Yes, of course it's a political ploy. So what? It will be interesting to see who joins him as sponsors, how hard he and his co-sponsors push it, and how far it gets.

Good for Chuck. If he wants it even considered he better stop stalling some of those Presidential nominations.

You got to give a little to get a little. Dems tend to forget that.
