Coming from a far-right propaganda website, I looked into it myself and found other news sources that explain that this wasn't a typical gun-nut home-invasion-shoot-em-up fantasy, but the two groups knew each other and had some sort of "social media feud". In conclusion, the shooters were in the right to shoot the invaders, but they were no heroes, and it furthers the idea that your chances of needing a gun to defend yourself go down significantly if you don't get yourself mixed up in crime, or have idiot friends with guns, or start crap with idiots with guns.
Unless they were Trump campaign lawyers there is no reason to think that a cop knocking at the door spoof would work. Obviously this is gang and drug violence and has been so reported. These are just the kind of people the NRA wants armed. AR-15, the choice of gang bangers everywhere!
I am a bit confused. We are always told that guns don't kill people yet the people that profess that then state that guns save people. It would seem to me that these beliefs contradict each other.

Only a person can use a gun for good, or evil. It is the person doing the deed, not the gun. The title of the article quoted says MAN pulls out AR, which is correct. The thread title is technically wrong.

Nah. They like Draco pistols, hipoints, keltecs, and AKs. Don't forget Mac10/mac11s.
My question is 3 of the 7 suspects have the same last name. I think their parents need to be talked too if they can't notice three, well now two of their children were criminals.
I can't speak to the break-in at a mobile home, but why shouldn't the owner have a AR-15 if they are legally allowed to do so.
Despite what the media will tell you, it is at this point in time the most common sporting rifle in this country, for a multitude of reasons.
The simple answer to "Why does the homeowner have a AR-15 in the first place" is because they can.
But only a fraction of people do. The AR-15s are owned by a very small group of people. Most citizens do not own one nor want one. Those who do tend to own several of them, and and even smaller group of citizens own many of them.
Far more people own a pistol for home and self defense than any rifle. But when a long gun is selected for the purpose, more shotguns are purchased than rifles for home defense.
That is the part of the story I like -chapter 2 I like less -when the gangster families come back with lawyers and cops and mr AR gets treated like a criminal
