Right now, per law, the father legally could have given the guns to the son if the son lived in TN, due to a loophole in the law.

The only reason the son couldn't have the guns in IL was due to IL state law. But once the son moved to TN, the IL gun ownership law became a moot point and there was no background check required in TN for the father to give the guns to his son who lived in TN.
In one word, yes. It is common sense.

I want this but sadly the NRA boogeyman won't allow it. Nor will they complain about removal of guns from a residence where law abiding gun owners can't have guns due to those who cannot own guns, like this guy. Guns in inheritance to this date isn't forced to background check either. The law is too slow in this case if he was given the guns back.
Some states have laws about private sales, but they can't be enforced.

If a POC had shot up a Waffle House and all of the victims were white, there would be a tweetstorm from the occupant in the white houseboat and this thread would have 1000 replies, but since all of the victims were POC and the shooter was white.....

Well until it is too late, yes. Just like speeding. If you speed and a cop didn't see it nor are their radar, how did you speed?

Eh, no. Sandy Hook was a white shooter, tweet storm. Aurora was a white shooter, tweet storm. Marjory Stoneman Douglas was a white shooter, tweet storm. The reason this wasn't was a relatively low body count and no children died. No race here.

I’m talking about from the person in the White House.
Also this thread would be longer if the races were reversed.

How did the father get the firearms from the police in Illinois and get them to the son?

Tennessee could have 0 state level gun laws. It wouldn't matter.
Know why?

He'd fail a background check when making a purchase.

Says they belonged to the son...

Something does not add up at all...
Car?

Everything I've read says that the father GAVE the son the guns after they were returned to him (the father).

So the son visited the father in IL and picked up the guns or the father visited the son in TN and gifted him the guns there.
There are no border checks between states (that I know of) that would prevent anyone from travelling with guns in the trunk of their car.

Some things are really just that simple.
