Yes, but we only have to look as far as the latest massacre (known as the Waffle House shooting) to look at how our existing loopholes do nothing to keep guns (AR15s no less) from an obviously deranged, dangerous person, well know to the police. A man who was caught with a gun on White House grounds and who has multiple arrests.
It's high time we strengths our laws to at least try to make the purchase of such weapons more stringent.
There were no loopholes here........ once again there was a failure by authorities and criminal negligence by a family member. Start holding people accountable.......enforce laws with truly strict penalties that cannot be avoided. The firearm used here is irrelevant. He could have used a handgun, or a shotgun and achieved the same outcome.
Please tell, what military uses an AR-15? Do it for the babies Sane people don't push to punish 99.9% of the population for 1/10th of 1% of the criminals.
Check to see if you can become a citizen in Australia. I'm thinking... nope

Isn't the SIG Sauer SIG516 based on the AR-15, as is the LMT MRT Defender and both are used by counter terrorist units in a number of countries.

The shooter was prohibited from owning firearms. His FATHER ILLEGALLY gave him the firearm. It is ALREADY against the law. The Father is in for prosecution, and jail time under multiple Federal Firearms Laws.
Enforce existing laws. Maybe you should read the 22,000 gun laws we already have.

Or a bump stock or other impRovised device, as was the case in the 2017 Las Vegas shooting.
The LMT Defender is carried by the British Transport Police and the SIG516 is one of the weapons used by the Metropolitan Police Firearms Units in London.

That is probably the only time you will hear a "bump stock" being used in crime. They make the rifle VERY inaccurate, and the only reason he was able to kill so many was a TIGHTLY PACKED CAPTIVE CROWD. Many died from ricochets. A bump stock does not turn a rifle into full auto, and now do to politics have been banned. I don't know anyone that owns one of these things. It is a gimmick. The Las Vegas shooter probably would have killed more with aimed, regular fire. Much more accurate, and much more deadly.
Your point is that even semi auto's aren't "safe". Used ILLEGALLY, anything is dangerous. Even a VAN.

Which military unit or LE uses a bump stock? Conditions have to be perfect for that POS to even work. The only reason there was even one event with it was the loser had so much time to pull it off. There is nothing "high tech" about a floating piece of plastic. Have you ever shot one? I did once and it was so frustrating, for what it is advertised to do, that I told the guy no thanks.
