"Trumpees" as you call them, are not the ones who turned the conversation into something ugly. Have you read the thread? The remarks coming from the libs are awful.

More likely Melanja hit on him...

I see by this article in the Chicago Tribune from back in the day, that conservatives were just as angry about Obama not attending Nancy Reagan's funeral, but the writer goes on to say that only four presidents have attended the funerals of former first ladies.....Clinton being one of them.

Why it's OK for President Obama to skip Nancy Reagan's funeral - Chicago Tribune

They hypocrisy of politics.
As point of reference, the only thing Obama could have done that would have reaped a positive reaction from the GOP was to have died in office...

That's why Obama did not attend Nancy Reagan's funeral and Bill Clinton did not attend Jackie Kennedy's funeral. Their wives did.

Have anything to say about them?
In the future, I can't imagine the donald, then an ex-president, attending a White House funeral.

Heck, he can't even buck up and attend the "nerd prom".

I'm not really sure why he didn't attend the mass though - the families were close, but maybe they all agreed he'd be more of a distraction?

I personally think it's fine that Trump did not attend, particularly in this case where Barbara Bush had made her dislike of him quite clear. I think she would have been fine with Melania attending as First Lady, so what happened seemed quite appropriate to me.

But yes, of course there are plenty of hypocrites who attacked Obama for not attending Nancy Reagan's funeral while being fine with Trump not going to this one - and the reverse as well. While they are far bigger hypocrites, Republicans definitely don't have a monopoly.
Thanks for clearing that up
I thought I remember he made some comments
Jackie was buried at Arlington by JFK--

I think you meant it's uncommon for the sitting president to attend the funerals of former First Ladies.

Clinton was the exception. He gave the Eulogy at Jackie's funeral.

One factor I think liberals and conservatives agree on is that Melania is always perfectly groomed, elegant, and conveys a "touch me not" effect most of the time in her "formal" appearances--
It was refreshing to see her in a relaxed mode...

Yes--I really regretted Trump did that--because he obviously didn't want to
But someone was really twisting his arm to make that statement

Who can forget the insane spaced out look Hillary always had when she was with Bill? Cue the balloon drop video where everyone thought she was having a seizure.
