Although there are some assertions this is true, it's not likely

If this were true than there should have been a spike in psychosis cases at least sometime in the 1960's / 1970's. However, the fact is that these cases have remained sable (adjusting for population growth) since the 1950's. So, statistically, we are not seeing the increased medical issues that one would expect to see if this were true.
There are many stupid laws we have to follow. That's the way this country, and any country, works.
Do I wish we were Amsterdam? Ofcourse. They're doing just fine with drugs and prostitutes.
Sadly, Uncle Sam doesn't mess around and they have the power to arrest and ruin your life if you decide you want to take that risk and break the law
The issue/stigma from weed comes from the smell IMO. You federally legalize it, then everyone in public starts smelling like weed. Malls, parks, restaurants, movie theaters, etc. If we can solve the weed smell/stink issue, we can help remove the stigma of smoking weed.
"Everyone is not going to smell of weed when it is legal. How do I know? If heroin was legalized tomorrow, would you use it? I think not. Same with weed. Just because it is legal, doesn't mean we will become a nation of stoners. If all it took was making something legal for EVERYONE to be using something, we'd all be drunks and nicotine addicts!
Vaping has virtually no smell, so, that's solved. Next "reason"?

If people have the 'right' to demand free health care for problems resulting from eating, drinking, or smoking, the gov't inevitably will claim the 'right' to tell them what they can consume.
If we have a welfare state, we WILL have a nanny state to go with it.

Also, a large and growing percent of marijuana consumers don't smoke. Sales of edibles are booming.

Doesn’t matter, that’s the stigma/perception people have against weed, the smell.
I’m an advocate for legalization, just pointing out why some folks demonize it.
