All today s republicans that have thrown off their sheep's clothing with such arrogant confidence that they are now the royal ruling class...ought to tumble down en mass shortly.......as soon as November.

Will Ryan answer to his statement that it is his job to see that his party has the chaplain they deserve? Deserve? Like, the tax cuts they deserve? Like the taxpaid paychecks for royal travel treatment they deserve?
He and trump are the leaders of the racist party. Vote their kind out.
I do not believe they represent the US. Their base is Russia, Saudi , and Israel.

I think there is a certain group of GOP Congressmen who are so arrogant and self-centered they are incapable of viewing any other version of a narrative as truth but their own
These are the people whom Ryan is basically afraid of
They are the ones who suck up to Trump for various reasons
Someone suggested they believe Trump by making Jeruselem the capital of Israel is helping to bring forward the "end of days" predicted in Revalations for the Rapture---
If so--basically they believe Trump can cause the world to end--and that is why they are supporting him...
Crazy days...huh
Ryan is leaving the House--not running for reelection-=
why does he feel the need to kowtow to anyone...
Obviously these men who are antiMuslim objected to having a Muslim cleric open Congress with an interdenominational prayer--in that it called for a sense of brotherhood--
What is wrong with that when there are millions of Muslims, Buddists, Orthodox Jews, Orthodox Christians, and various other creeds in the US....
The arrogance of these people is pretty offensive to me and I am not even religious...

Agree with most or all here. What amount of arrogance (at a loss for other words to describe) does it take to mistake their own economic self-interest for the alleged operation of some sortof divine & providential plan?

As if they, & they alone, are the 'invisible hand' described by Adam Smith. Insanity masquerading as hubris.

So what happens now to Ryan?

Does this whole thing just blow over or are there some consequences?

Bottom line, how low can one go to fire a man of the cloth. Aha! Or sends a messenger.

Of course, the role model here is one who sinks into muck and mire to fire those who support the constitution. By messenger.

Sewers are quite backed up in Washington. Stench of the cowardly.

Well, Ryan's retiring so what could anyone do? Watch him sail off into the sunset. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Nothing to Ryan except his PAC will have to spend more in Catholic areas to get them to vote for a party which is against ISIS and Catholics.

Go Figure.

No consequences for Ryan.
Those who wanted this chaplain gone will just work around him, like this:

"The first Bible study group held for the U.S. Cabinet in at least 100 years is led by a pastor who believes homosexuality is "illegitimate," who doesn't believe women should preach and has described Catholicism as a "false" religion.
Ten members of the Cabinet, including Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, sponsor the study group, which holds meetings lasting between one hour and 90 minutes every Wednesday, according to BBC News. "
