A Native American man claims he was kicked out of a store where he was trying on clothes and then arrested because of his race.
Robert Robedeaux, from Oklahoma, was shopping at Hibbett Sports in Owasso where he was allegedly profiled after he asked an employee to take a photo of the outfit he tried on to send to his wife.
The store worker then called the police, leading three officers to escort the man off the premises for trespassing.
He just asked the worker if she would take a picture for his wife, no reason to call the police.
Hmmm... millions of Native Americans and African Americans shop every day with no problem. I’m guessing this store (Oklahoma) gets a lot of Native Americans. Sound to me like another trouble-maker looking for 15 minutes of fame.
Well, let's think about this for a minute. I work retail, and it takes a VERY serious situation before we would ever call police. None of us were there, we are only basing our opinion on a one sided video. NO store manager would call the cops for someone simply wanting a picture taken, NONE.
There is more to this story than we know. We have people who come into our store all the time that we know are there to just steal stuff, so we are all on high alert when they enter. We watch them like a hawk. This isn't because they are white, black, yellow, or green, we have seen them doing shady things in the past. I suspect this man was either that kind of customer, or he was causing some other disturbance.
This is too pat, he wants something and is trying to capitalize on the two black men in Philadelphia. He is looking for a payday.
'The manager has since changed her story multiple times as to why she called the cops... Keep in mind, profiling comes in many shades.. Not just black. #fiftyshadesofprofiling,' he added.
A female employee at the store phoned police around 7:20 pm saying Robedeaux asked if 'she was all alone'.
We had a situation like this a few years ago. A man who is a known thief/ druggie came into the store, we have had issues with him before, so we were watching him. He kept taking multiple clothes into the dressing room and never brought any back out, so we called the police.
They came, and as he was going through the register with one item, the police asked him if they could speak with him. He became confrontational (like this guy) and they took him into the office to talk to him and check him out. When they frisked him, he had about 4 shirts on (our shirts) and had multiple other items shoved down his pants.
We trespassed him, and about 6 months later we found out he had died from a drug overdose. The man in that video reminds me so much of how our guy acted, and looked. He was up to no good.
I think the more to the story is probably accurate.
I should not have assumed the manager was an idiot, but then again, I am not going to assume this man is up to no good, either.
