in most jurisdictions, you need to be at least 19 to sell/serve alcohol.

Well, first of all, arbitrary age limits for purchasing goods and services are absurd. With that in mind, obviously not allowing people under the absurd arbitrary age for a certain product to be employed/work near that product is even more absurd.

That must be a fairly new thing, Im not sure where the harm comes in for someone underage to ring up alcohol for sale, or run it over the scanner at checkout, how is this in anyway similar to possession or consuming the stuff? Id like to see their reasoning on creating a policy like this.

I'll meet you halfway 12 years old to 16 can buy beer and wine. At 16 they can buy unlimited quantities.
