Compassionate? IDK aboot that.

"Canadian authorities, concerned with the increasing number of illegal immigrants now straining their resources, want the United States to do a better job enforcing its own immigration law and vetting visitors from Nigeria so that they don't eventually make their way to Canadian soil"

This wins the "Most Nonsensical Post of the Day".

In this forum, that's saying something.

Canadians lecture about compassion? Really? Where do you live?

Are you talking refugees or are you talking illegal residents?

Do you statistics on how many illegal residents are in Canada?
Do you know the size of Canada's population?
Do you know the refugee policy in Canada?

And round and round we go. The right to bear arms isn't so much guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution as it is interpreted as such by the Supreme Court. Any further revisits regarding that semicolon in the 2nd Amendment (which could happen) to say that the right to bear arms applies only to a regulated militia could change that. And considering how much gun rights advocates lean on the Constitution and the Second Amendment, I am sure that if the day came when it was interpreted differently, you'll happily turn over your firearms if asked to. I mean, you are patriots and supporters of the Constitution, right?

Easy to support something that currently agrees with your beliefs.

And the analogy is perfectly fine. In both cases, the problem has been around for too long to do anything about it. The government will never come to take your guns. There are simply too many. And they will never come to take away all the illegal immigrants. There are simply too many.

Believing that one can happen is as ill-informed as thinking the other will happen.

Read it for yourself. The meaning is plainly clear. Basic reading comprehension 101, folks:

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State,"
(The reason for enumerating the following Constitutional Right...)

"the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." (The actual enumerated Constitutional Right)

The people are ALWAYS the people, and only sometimes act as a militia.

Now, show us the Constitutional Right that permits illegal immigration.

Thousands? Link?

China is investing billions of dollars in failed African nations.

Mexico had over 26,000 murders last year. No, that wasn't a typo. They have as much if not more natural resources then their NA brethren, USA and Canada, i.e. oil, fisheries, mineral deposits, etc. They have 2 gorgeous coastlines, wonderful culture and people, yet their government is so corrupt that drug cartels literally run most Mexican state police departments and bribery is a part of the every day Mexicans life, look up mordita. By most accounts over 15 million Mexicans have illegally left their country for the USA, and remittences, i.e. money sent back to Mexicans living in Mexico from relatives in the States is either their largest or second largest form of income. Some rural communities in Mexico still do not have clean drinking water and electricity. Mexico is a disgrace and should be ashamed of themselves. They should be as prosperous as USA and Canada, but they've chosen to allow corruption to rule them instead.

How many refugees did the USA take in 2017 -- compared to Canada?

Do you know that number.

If you don't -- you don't know if the USA carries the weight.

We are not family with Canada. We are neighbors -- and have been for a long time.

That's it in a nutshell.
