https://www.apnews.com/1f21cb47ab6d4...jobs-best-ever

Quote:
TRUMP: “Great financial numbers being announced on an almost daily basis. Economy has never been better, jobs at best point in history.”

THE FACTS: He’s exaggerating. The economy is healthy now, but it has been in better shape at many times in the past.

Growth reached 4 percent at an annual rate in the second quarter, which Trump highlighted late last month with remarks at the White House. But it’s only the best in the past four years. So far, the economy is expanding at a modest rate compared with previous economic expansions. In the late 1990s, growth topped 4 percent for four straight years, from 1997 through 2000. And in the 1980s expansion, growth even reached 7.2 percent in 1984.

It’s not clear what Trump specifically means when he declares that jobs are at the “best point in history,” but based on several indicators, he’s off the mark.

The unemployment rate of 3.9 percent is not at the best point ever — it is actually near the lowest in 18 years. The all-time low came in 1953, when unemployment fell to 2.5 percent during the Korean War. And while economists have been surprised to see employers add 215,000 jobs a month this year, a healthy increase, employers in fact added jobs at a faster pace in 2014 and 2015. A greater percentage of Americans held jobs in 2000 than now.

Trump didn’t mention probably the most important measure of economic health for Americans — wages. While paychecks are slowly grinding higher, inflation is now canceling out the gains. Lifted by higher gasoline prices, consumer prices increased 2.9 percent in June from a year earlier, the most in six years.

Adjusting for inflation, hourly pay for non-managers — about 80 percent of the workforce — fell 0.2 percent over the same period. Yet in 1998, for example, inflation-adjusted hourly pay growth topped 2.5 percent.

What he says to the press about the press that sounds positive and critical of Trump doesn't mean jack s--- if he votes to benefit keeping Trump in office
They are just letting Trump do all the dirty work he can and they wash their hands of his efforts and destruction

What do you think when you see parents at a restaurant when their child/children are behaving rudely, so disruptive they ruin dinner for anyone in the restaurant, cause the staff lot of extra work and worry and the parents do nothing and say nothing to stop that bad behavior...
You hate it---
You complain the parents are doing a horrible job teaching those kids how to behave and you might even complain to the restaurant staff and ask them to intercede
But the parents defend their children and don't call them to order at all...

How much do you blame the parents and blame the kids--
in my case it is usually 50/50 and I know it has happened every time those kids go out in public because the parents are too lazy and self-centered to do anything that takes effort to teach their kids

When our kids misbehaved in public we left--wherever we were--
Movies, restaurants, stores---
We took them home and disciplined them and made them understand they were not the center of the universe and there were rules they had to follow...

Now Trump is little too big to spank or send to his room w/o supper --or take away his tv priviledges----but there are things the GOP could do to teach him manners
But they won't
Because he serves their needs...

Trump lies again when he "thinks" yet he knows nothing.

My guess is that Trump couldn’t point out California on a map if it was in front of him, much less know where the rivers flow and if water is wasted.

Quote:
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Fire authorities insisted on Monday that they have ample water supplies to fight California’s devastating wildfires, contrary to U.S. President Donald Trump’s tweets that unspecified water diversions to the Pacific were making matters worse. <snip>
Quote:
On Sunday, Trump tweeted, “California wildfires are being magnified & made so much worse by the bad environmental laws which aren’t allowing massive amount of readily available water to be properly utilized. It is being diverted into the Pacific Ocean. Must also tree clear to stop fire spreading!” <snip>
