I can only speak for myself, but I think I would rather die fighting oppressors than live an oppressed and miserable life. The slightest trace of injustice can turn me into an animal. One should always do what is right, no matter what the consequences.

Generally speaking, I have come to totally dislike weak people. For instance, I hate blackmailers, but I hate people who let themselves be blackmailed even more.
To die fighting your oppressor would deprive you of the joy of turning the tables on them and getting revenge. Maybe thats why many slaves don't chose to die.
During the Civil War a Member of the USCT's unit captured his master's unit and took him prisoner and said to him, "look lak de top rung on de bottom and de bottom rung on de top."

That only works if the weaponry is evenly distributed...or the slaves have their own army.

Wait...that second one didn’t work for Spartacus either. I guess you need a good army.

I doubt the joy of getting revenge plays a role. That's more a thing of tv series and movies...

Guess you never heard of the Nat Turner rebellion. Imagine if more slaves rose up, knocked out their owner and headed up north or even Canada.

Sadly, when you control a man's thoughts, you don't have to worry much about rebellions or escapes regardless of how much the slaves outnumber you on your plantation.

I especially liked this quote from Kanye’s interview:

A white teacher told my daughter she is black, you might be Kanye West's daughter, but you're black."

"My daughter was free. We start putting these ideas on people, that is why we are in a simulation. When you're three years old you hop up on the coffee table, and your auntie that you don't like tells you not to stand on that, it is a coffee table. Now you're three years old, you don't care about 'coffee' or 'table.' This went from being something that elevates you while you're playing to something that is a distraction, an obstruction to your joy. By the time you're 30, 40, 50, how many coffee tables do you have in your life?"

That’s some good philosophical stuff right there.

Nat didn’t win.

He didn't have to. He showed it was possible to kill your owner and run toward the north.

Better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.

Pretty judgmental about other people’s character and courage, aincha?

You should read Slave narratives, diaries, and primary sources and you will find out how much slaves wanted revenge and how many slave owners were afraid of their slaves. The Peculiar institution, a groundbreaking book written in 1956 by Kenneth Stampp outlines how resistance was the theme of a slaves daily existence. The quote referenced in my previous post is well known and can be found in more than one non-fiction source. Choice is to subvert .

As the decades and centuries and generations of slaves went by, they should have noticed something was wrong with their approach.
