Chemistry. People whose hair hangs straight have hair follicles that produce a lot of oil (that's what makes it hang),so much so that if they don't wash the oil out every day (or every other day) the hair starts to get oily and stringy.
People with tightly curled hair (that doesn't hang) have follicles that make MUCH less oil. It makes the hair able to hold styles longer, but it is also more fragile and dryer. We wash our hair less for that reason, because we are forever trying not to strip it of too much of it's natural oils. If we do, the hair gets really dry and breaks.
"Regular" shampoo is designed to wash lots of oil out. "Black" shampoo is designed to remove less oil and put back some moisture. If we use regular shampoo it tends to strip too much oil and make our hair feel like a birds nest and break. Black shampoo/conditioner leaves it soft and fluffy.
Thank you for that education. You would think I would have known the difference. lol
We travel quite a bit. We are a caucasian family, yet my wife and teenage daughter need to bring their own shampoo with them, in spite of being white, and in spite of being in nice hotels.
My son and I just use whatever is in the hotel.
So I guess that means the really nice hotels dont have white person shampoo. They have white, male shampoo. This shampoo is not only racist shampoo, it is misogynistic shampoo as well.

good point. this is more of a women-being-picky-about-haircare-products thing. i doubt black guys are complaining about the 'racist' shampoo.
What shampoo do you get in a hotel in say Nigeria or Haiti?
