Talking about God doesn't make you any more a Christian than sitting in a garage makes you a car. Being a Christian is not just saying the right words, it is a life transformation. Looking at Trump's behavior throughout his life yields no evidence of any great change.
Exactly! Good Christians don't have to tell you they are Christian they show you by what they do and how they carry themselves at all times.

I've always loved these verses from Luke:
Quote:
45While all the people were listening, Jesus said to his disciples, 46"Beware of the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets. 47They devour widows' houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. These men will be punished most severely."
In other words, a lack of humility will bite you in the butt.
No contradiction here; Trump has emboldened the simpler thinkers, which scores points with the Religious Right. That's a pretty fair distance from claiming credit for a common phrase with which we're all familiar.
Whether I agree with this or not (and it turns out I don't) this is no excuse for the Oooohhh-so-Politically Correct to try to silence those whom they oppose,

The OP should grow up and stick to the facts.
And exactly who am I trying to silence? I'm criticizing Trump for yet another false statement he made. I've told no one to be silent.
But you might want to stick to the facts yourself, as well as refrain from making personal criticisms like saying I need to grow up - for reasons that don't even exist since I haven't tried to silence anyone as you've falsely claimed.
He didn’t take credit for the “One nation under God”. He said people are saying it more, which is just as ridiculous. The guys a pervert going through the controversy of paying a porn star $100K+ for sex.
Well, in fairness - as much as I despise Trump, that's not really what he's saying. That is, he's not claiming credit for the saying itself - it's just that he delusionally imagines that a hypocritical, uncharitible, vulgar, bigoted un-Christian guy like him has someone bolstered the confidence of others in voicing meaningless semi-religious statements.
The funny thing is, the phrase is only from the Pledge of Allegiance, right? The reason he imagines that more people are saying it is being now that he's in politics, he hears the Pledge more.

as already noted, the thread title is cut and pasted from the article linked in the original post. And no one has made a statement that he took credit for originating the phrase - the article spells out exactly what he said.

The tweet is what I am talking about, it’s obviously misleading.
