lol what a joke...incur tens of thousands in student loans for a fake online college, very few if any have recognized accreditation, they create their own accreditation that isn't accepted in any public college anywhere. A University of Phoenix or Kaplan bachelor's degree never got anyone a good job anywhere because the course work is absurdly easy and employers know it.

Easy, a lesser salary in a lower COL state doesn't mean lower standard of living.

To the contrary way too many people in the Dallas, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, St. Louis metro areas can actually afford nice homes or apartments with many upgraded features on less income than other high COL area. I know, I've experienced it firsthand.

Face it, if one's career objective is to sling burgers at McDonald's, don't expect to live well. You certainly can't afford to raise a family on that income and jobs like that never will allow for that.

Pittsburgh is an interesting city . I went there some years back . Very affordable housing and there is a big tech scene there now that is growing too . Housing prices still really affordable in most neighborhoods there .

Also yeah min wage or the lowest end jobs never allowed one to really thrive .
Not sure where anyone got that idea .

Especially if one chooses to live in a very high cost city like NYC .

Biotech, self-driving cars, and robotics? Pittsburgh, the Steel Belt city, is the best-kept secret east of Silicon Valley.

Nope, they should all be satisfied with their pay.

And teachers would also get better leverage when the wage floor is raised at the bottom.
Don't be surprised when these people get fired and replaced by machines. The people in charge of these businesses and restaurants won't let profits stop to give money to the poor.

Says you and no one else.

No one should have to work for less than $100,000.

But we live in a capitalist free market economy that dictates who gets paid what.

Sorry, burger flippers are NOT worth $15 an hour.

Time to do some grocery shopping list, and stop eating out. Problem solved.

Maybe not in Ames, Iowa or Ogallala, Nebraska; but in Hayward, California or Union City, New Jersey; I think $15 is fair given COL

You think slavery is acceptable, and you hate the poor and want to see them starve.

Instead of keeping repeating this drivel, explain yourself. Why is working for $15 per hour more slave like than $7 per hour?

You seem to think folks would be happier working for peanuts. The rich hate and despise the poor. Same all over the world.

We have enriched folks like the Chinese, at the expense of our own people. America has been flooded with illegal immigrants, who work for peanuts. You think this is right? It sure doesn't help America's poor.

Yet, it has been allowed to happen as this suits the rich and powerful, who you seem to admire so much.

I said it once, and I'll repeat it. If the rich of cities like NYC want serving by underlings, then the underlings need to be able to live nearby, so they will be able to serve the rich their meals, and drinks, and all the other services the rich desire.

Not much to ask is it? That they earn enough to pay for shelter, and to feed themselves. You think they should live in tents in Central Park?

I do agree with you regarding the Chinese screwing us over , big corporations like Apple and many many others have benefited of course ... but it’s not been good for American workers .
Also illegal aliens aren’t good for American workers either .

The thing is costs to live by are so high though . Even at $15 hr you can’t really live in Manhattan at least in your own place . Maybe if you put 4 or 5 in bunk beds in a room .. but then you’d have living situations like those Chinese workers .
