To certain extent that is true
But remember than in many areas where police criminality exists, there are no unions...
And in areas where most people would never support a union, they allow police unions to exist and people WANT those jobs because they know they have decent pay and benefits and a pension after retirement...
Texas as a state has "right to work" laws--which empower the employer--not the worker so it is the height of irony and hypocracy to call them "right to work laws"
But the major cities have unions for their police, fire/EMT, and a few other government services
But heaven forbid, their educators should have a union--
And the teachers/educators in TX suffer because they--themselves--are often strong opponents to unions...

syndicalism...unionizing....syndicating.... a commune

again...what they commune says goes... no individualism, no success, no freedom

its like the unions... :
union: we are going on strike tomorrow, YOU WILL join us
Me: nah, I like my job, it pays my needs
union: you will strike for the many, or you will be beaten up and fired

syndicalism or Marxism is anti freedom

.under Marxism (communism) or socialism or unionism(corporatism) ...the sheeple are FORCED to COMPLY with the communes(unions) NEEDS....its anti-individualism, anti freedom
No, Charles and David Koch, the oil magnates. No relation to Ed Koch. Don't play coy 😒

Because the UNION fought for better pay, better benefits, better working conditions--
And that jerk is just riding on the coat tails of the Union...

Educate yourself as to the history of unions in America--
Almost EVERY positive workplace feature was hard-won by UNIONS...

Admittedly there were/are problems w/union organizations being taken over by criminal activity
But I think we can see the same thing in Trump's history

But the idea of unions is to offer the working class, average person POWER, democratic power because unions have memberships and are organized in a democratic manner where members vote on leadership and agendas...
To give leverage to the workers to offset the power of the bosses...
It is no coincidence that the increase in CEO and higher levels of leadership within companies has come while the average working wage and the power of unions has been vastly reduced...
Labor/management is like a see-saw--with two people of unequal weights on either side
Management -- weighing 200 lbs vs labor vs 100
There is no balance
And frankly the see-saw is not functional as it was meant to be when situatuion like that exists...

It has NEVER been a wage that would support a family, not even in 1938. If that is what they really wanted that's what would have been passed, but it wasn't.

If you wanted to keep it consistent with what it was at it's peak it would only about around $10 / hour today, if you adjusted it based on 1938 it would only be $4 / hour. No where near the absurd liberal fantasy $22 / hour.

No one in their right mind would think that minimum wage jobs, jobs that take zero skills, zero experience, little to no training, where the worker can be replaced in minutes, should be enough to support a family on. Would you honestly expect to be able to support a family clearing tables at Red Robin? Or collecting shopping carts at the grocery store? Doing jobs that almost any teenager could easily do.

you would much rather depend on someone like say...... Trump to set your pay and work rules? It is illegal to use union dues for political candidates.

I think your calculator's idea of inflation has never tried to actually live on those wages...
Check out the following prices--

A gallon of gasoline in each of the eras...vs today?
The cost of having a baby in all eras and today"s...
The cost of year's tuition at a state college in those eras and today's
The cost of a first class railroad ticket from NYC to LA?
The cost of loaf of bread
The cost of a cup of restaurant coffee
The average cost of KWH of electricity in NYC, Miami, Chicago, San Francisco

I think if you translate into prices of everyday expenses it wouldn't look so great...

Those are all the result of the debasing of the currency, with tuition being the result of government meddling in student loans.
