Gov. Fallin (R-OK) vetoed a Constitutional-Carry gun bill. Gun-rights advocates criticized her, even though her action did not violate the 2nd amendment which apparently reads:

"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed unless the government decided to require a permit and forbids gun ownership for anyone who doesn't have one".

Oklahoma governor vetoes gun carry bill in defeat for NRA

May 11, 2018

Oklahoma's Republican Governor Mary Fallin vetoed a bill that would have allowed adults to carry handguns without a permit.

Her veto of the gun bill dealt a rare blow to the National Rifle Association in a conservative state. But the proposal to authorize adults to carry firearms without a permit or training was opposed by law enforcement officials, who said it would weaken background checks and hurt public safety.

In a statement announcing her veto, Fallin stressed her support for the Second Amendment and the right to bear arms and noted she had signed concealed and open carry measures in the past. "I believe the firearms laws we currently have in place are effective, appropriate and minimal," she said.

The bill is similar to so-called "constitutional carry" legislation adopted in a dozen other states.

The NRA blasted Fallin for what it said was ignoring her promise when she ran for re-election in 2014 to support a constitutional carry gun law.

No one should need a permission slip from a politician to carry a gun, hammer, screwdriver, ball point pen, etc.

Yep, requiring any permit is definitely infringement, We have the right to NOT obey this kind of law imo.

Government has no say in the first place, to even be voting and vetoing a bill about the peoples arms and an individuals right to keep on ones person, and be able to bear at a moments notice.

The problem comes, because we(our fathers and grand fathers) have let them be better armed than the people, with an unconstitutional Police State that replaced the Free State long ago.

I believe in a persons Rights to own and carry a firearm but with the way our society is today we have a lot of people that lack the common sense to properly carry and operate what is a potentially dangerous weapon.

We are required to have drivers licenses to operate a car and at one time we had to prove with a test that we knew the rules of the road and could operate a potentially dangerous weapon in a safe a manner.

I think there should be requirements to be met before just anyone can walk into a store and buy a gun. At the bare minimum that person should be required to take a safety course in the handling, operation and storage of the firearm.
We just have too many idiots out there and we all know people that should never be allowed to own a gun because they are either irresponsible, lack the temperament or are just plain stupid.

Another suspicious aspect to this, they even stated "law enforcement opposed the bill"....Why in the world would LE make their opinion known on ANY bill, they should not even have an opinion, its well beyond their scope and pretty close to being a conflict of interest on their part really, that is scary imo!

Chalk up one more subject who thinks it's OK to give government the power to decide who can own a gun and who can't.

You find out who is good and who is bad real quick and the culling begins....
Sure the tree of liberty and freedom is watered with the blood of bullies and the innocent.
Freedom is scary to evil people. Liberty is scary to those with bad intentions.
Because I have the freedom & liberty to be armed to the teeth.

No LE wants to be made harder to bully or harass anyone.
They may not wish to approach petty victimless crimes, if a holstered weapon is present.
Mortality has a way, to let liberty flow.
As long as you are not harming, threatening, or stealing.... Life is good.
One way or another, bullies with a badge, get weeded out quick, in a fully armed society.
