Iranians Fear Deeper Crisis as Trump Ends Nuclear Deal
Deal's Collapse Leaves Leader in a Fragile State
By Thomas Erdbrink
The sense of crisis in Iran runs deep and wide. The economy is in free fall. The currency is plummeting. Rising prices are squeezing city dwellers. A five-year drought is devastating the countryside. The pitched battle between political moderates and hard-liners is so perilous that there is even talk of a military takeover.
Now, the lifeline offered by the 2015 nuclear deal, which was supposed to alleviate pressure on Iran’s economy and crack open the barriers to the West, is falling apart, too: President Trump announced Tuesday that he was withdrawing the United States from the agreement, which he called a “disastrous deal.”
The chief loser will be the country’s moderate president, Hassan Rouhani, who now looks weakened, foolish and burned for the risk he took in dealing with the Americans...
“Someone, please change our fate, whoever, even Trump,” said Ali Shoja, a cleaner who said he can’t afford to support his three sons. “I used to be a driver, now I clean. What’s next? I cannot become a beggar.”
Nature hates a vacuum. Whenever the US moves out of a diplomatic effort, someone else moves in. No one can what might happen because you never are sure who will step into the void.

Or, it means a tyrant that was developing nuclear weapons will be stopped, likely removed.
The U.S. has been run by tyrants for decades and has been developing nuclear weapons for 75 years. Does the world have the right to overthrow the U.S. government?

1. If Iran's moderate president is weakened, that may open the way to a hard-liner who openly rants against America and supports terrorism.
2. It'll likely lead to an increase in oil/gas prices.
3. This sends a clear signal that no country should trust America on any deal.
1. Iran is already governed by hardliners who openly rant against America and support terrorism. It's incredible people still try to pass the "Iran's president is a moderate" lie with a straight face when even the architect of the "Rouhani is a moderate" narrative has admitted it was a lie.
2. Great, maybe we can put some of our oil producers back to work that Saudi Arabia drove to the unemployment line by flooding the market with oil.
3. It sends out a clear signal to our stated enemies that this administration won't coddle them, and our allies in the Middle East are elated we dumped this piece of crap. This deal was opposed by overwhelming majorities in both chambers of Congress and Iran was on notice that this was not a treaty and thus subject to revocation at any time for any reason.

1. "Government" doesn't equal "the people." Most Persians like and admire America and the West.
2. The U.S. gets most of its oil from Canada and Mexico.
3. They're not "our" enemies or "our" allies. We don't live in a communist collective. No Persian has ever threatened me, my family, or my income.
