The respect that police are shown is because we expect them to be better then that. trying to turn this tragedy into some excuse for shooting folks who do not deserve it is perturbing.
If they value their lives above others to the point of shooting innocents, they may be in the wrong line of work.
I don't see it as that. I see it as another example of why LEO's are the way they are around a certain segment of the population.
If a small percentage of a small percentage of our population are responsible for the majority of violence in this country do you blame them for being on edge around them ?

You should be treated exactly like Joe Q. "Doesn't Want Any Problems" Whiteguy if you act exactly like Joe Q. DWAP Whiteguy. This is how Joe Q. DWAP Whiteguy acts: Acts reasonable and has his license, registration, and insurance card ready, doesn't smart mouth the cop, has his hands where they can be seen at all times, (clutching the aforementioned items), preferably on the steering wheel as the cop approaches, and realizes that the time to argue his case is in the court room, not on the side of the road, then yes, you should be treated exactly as Joe Q. DWAP Whiteguy, which is not to be confused with regular Joe Q. Whiteguy who wants to assert his made up authority and demand "respect" from the cop. If you act like that guy, you're still going to have problems despite the racist beliefs that all white people have it easy when being pulled over.
Any deviation from Joe Q. DWAP Whiteguy's behavior and actions, don't be surprised if you're not treated exactly as Joe Q. DWAP Whiteguy.
(General "you", not implying that you, personally, act unreasonable when being pulled over.)
