You could be right about his intentions were never to meet. He wasn't standing his ground though.
He was shifting the ground. A complete change in attitude as the date for the meeting got nearer.
Really think Trump wanted a deal. IF ONLY, he could have kept his huge mouth shut.

Reason: off topic
After SoS Pompeo read the WH letter in congress he took questioning by Senator Bob Menendez. Pompeo completely own Bob and made him look the fool he was.
Hopefully we will have some links to that soon.

We can all be thankful that your spiel isn't represented by the State Dept.
Well, you just sit comfortably in your bubble and keep worshiping the NYC con-man whose word isn't worth the electrons its tweeted with. And just WHAT is represented by the State Dept other than a POTUIS whose word is meaningless?
I'm disappointed the meeting between kim and trump won't happen, at least won't happen in June. denuclearizing kim would have been a positive for the entire world.
The WH reason is the recent/latest comments made by NK.
Smart move by the President IMO.
F NK. Kim Jung Un had a very rare peak at freedom and he wussed out.
Freedom takes much courage. Freedom is hogtied to responsibility and is diametrically opposed to victimhood, so in that regard, NK is still being very Democrat-like.

Your first sentence is garbage, the second one is true.
It's not like the United States is lifting sanctions on NK anytime soon.
If anything, it's going to get worse. How long is Kim going to remain cornered by the world?

I will say, I am less critical of Trump's decision and more critical of all the fans making it out like it was some big accomplishment for Trump to walk away.
Reality -- it wasn't going to happen -- the administration was gambling and didn't lose big -- but didn't win either. It's a 'nothingburger'.
But -- as seen in this thread -- to fans this will be another example of how great and wonderful Trump is. It isn't - -nothing happened. It's not a great accomplishment.
It's just something that happened.
Suggestion.
Try to consider it in the overall broader sense of foreign policy and trade too. China is back on their heals by this move. They can't hold NK as a bargaining chip and Trump is more free to pressure them on trade and bringing NK inline.
I'm just saying that Trump has more than one piece on the chest board and other countries like Iran are watching too.

It's not going to happen.
There are unicorns and then there are horses.
Dreaming of a world where nobody else has nuclear weapons except the USA is naive. It will NEVER happen.
Best bet -- some kind of deal, some kind of relationship. All in or nothing -- nothing will be the result every time.
with North Korea
with Iran
with the EU
with China
with Canada
with Mexico
Doesn't matter the merits of the no deals -- just saying -- the art of NO deal.
