The only people in America living in a police state are the ones committing crimes and encountering policemen. And it is the police state, and its interaction and containment of criminals, that allows good people to have good lives. Every encounter I have ever had with policemen in our police state has been courteous, professional, and even at times fun. The police are not our enemy, the criminal miscreants are the enemy. The police are a force for good. There is an occasional bad cop, but viewed as a unit, American policemen are the best in the world, and it is not close.
I'm sure the police are nice in Northern NJ, but come spend time in a big city and they will show you very quickly that they are not your friend. I work in an industry flagged as "undesirable" by Chicago PD and they send out officers to look for us while doing their rounds and find any small excuse to write us a batch of tickets, BS that they know will be thrown out by a judge but they do it anyway.
You are imagining the hypocrisy. If Trump is charged and convicted of a crime, he should go to jail with the other criminals. And the police should escort him there. The NFL kneelers don’t support the police against the criminals, they side with the criminal miscreants, for whom they make bogus excuses like white privilege and institutional racism, against the police. The truth is, they hate the police as a proxy for hating themselves. They defend the criminals because they view themselves, in some psychological way, as a part of criminal culture. The culture of drugs, irresponsibility, gang turf wars, etc. That is what is really happening. The protest is not against the police at all, the police stand for the contempt society has for the criminals the NFL kneelers feel brotherhood with. And so they protest the police. Even though it has little to do with them.

All politicians do this. The important thing is what Trump has accomplished:
1) Fantastic tax cuts that increase my paycheck and allow me to keep more of the money I earn and own.
2) At least meeting with the rocket man and getting a discussion underway. I haven’t seen a lot of missiles flying over Japan lately.
3) Fantastic Supreme Court appointments that will reign in collectivist haters for decades to come.
4) Beginning the process of keeping alien invaders out of my country.
5) Coining the term Pocahontas to describe the lying and dissembling collectivist hack Elizabeth Warren, the feculent fake phony Native American pretender.
6) Decreasing eco-fascist overreach by getting us out of the fascist Paris Accords.
7) Pulling us out of the bad agreement with the Islamic theocratic thugs in Iran.

Since you have no idea what the kneeling NFL players are protesting against Let Me Lend You A Hand. NFL players that are kneeling are protesting against unarmed African-American men and boys being shot and killed. And that NFL protest is a peaceful protest which is a right of ours under the Constitution of the United States of America.
