So Trump pardoned a man who has been dead for 70 years for crimes he committed 100 years ago.
He did this because Sylvester Stallone told him to?
What's next, pardoning Stallone for making stupid movies?
this is what annoys me the most about people, you cant give credit where credit is due. it wasnt just stallone that made the plea, there were many others that also pushed for the pardon. and regardless of how long ago this happened, its still goes a long way to restoring the reputation of a fine man who should be recognized for his accomplishments, and not for being railroaded for a dubious "crime" that was designed to prevent sex trafficking, not going after the average citizen for taking their girlfriend across state lines.
and as someone suggested there are people that have been wrongly convicted of crimes that also deserve a pardon, but until these cases hit the presidents desk, they wont get consideration for pardon. besides why dont a lot of these people seek a pardon from the governor of their state instead, since most were convicted in state court. why load the president down with things like this?
jack johnson was railroaded using a law that was designed to end sex trafficking. it is about time that someone set the record straight and pardoned this man. why obama or clinton didnt do it escapes me.
Obama found it more important to pardon a cross-dressing military traitor. Go figure.
I had to look this guy up, had no idea who he was. The pardon sounds like a good thing to me, it shouldn't have taken so long. One of our former presidents should have done it. Better late than never I guess.
totally agree. Who cares if someone else should have pardoned him, has it dawned on some of you, other presidents may not have been familiar with the story. Either way, the guy has been pardoned, his living relatives must be satisfied and not let it go to rest.

His story is awesome and well worth the read. He was a nearly unbelievable character. We used to have a statue of him in South Texas.
One of my favorite parts of his biography was a instance when he had purchased a racing modified automobile in an age when horse and buggy were still common and was stopped for a "speeding " .
The sheriff came up with the large arbitrary fine of $50 on the spot, as speeding tickets were not a common thing.
Jack peeled a $100 off of a large wad and told the sheriff to keep it because he would be coming back through the exact same way.
His story made a good movie too. James Earl Jones played him in “The Great White Hope.” I think they changed the character’s name to Jefferson, but it’s Jack Johnson’s story.
