That pretty much stands out.

He probably found out he is under investigation.

As those of us that have been following this closely have known, Gowdy is claiming the FBI did nothing wrong, however, he is making that claim without ever seeing the evidence congress has subpoenaed.

In fact, Gowdy is out of the loop, and doesn't even know what evidence the House intel committee has subpoenaed.

Gowdy is trying to pull a James Comey, and exonerate before the investigation is even over.

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) recently suggested the FBI did nothing wrong when it used at least one government informant to secretly collect information on Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. Public reports indicate, however, that Gowdy never even reviewed the relevant documents on the matter subpoenaed by Congress. In fact, a spokeswoman for Gowdy told The Federalist that the congressman doesn’t even know what documents and records were subpoenaed by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI).

Gowdy Never Saw Subpoenaed Records Before Exonerating FBI Spy Use

Apparently you didn’t read Gowdy’s statement, which of course is typical of right wing lunacy..

Quote:
Gowdy said in the interview that Trump is not a target of the ongoing Russia probe and told Fox, "President Trump himself in the Comey memos said if anyone connected with my campaign was working with Russia, I want you to investigate it, and it sounds to me like that is exactly what the FBI did. I think when the President finds out what happened, he is going to be not just fine, he is going to be glad that we have an FBI that took seriously what they heard."
https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/29/polit...sia/index.html

His briefing of the matter and commentary there upon debunks Trumps ‘spy’ in the campaign and throws the matter back to Russian involvement in the ELECTION, which by the way IS THE CRUX OF MUELLERS INVESTIGATION.

Are Trump supporters that overtly obtuse?

Gowdy has nothing to lose now by speaking the truth.

I expect others who've announced their retirement will be speaking out against Trump; Gowdy joined Sen. Corker and Sen. McCain, so he wasn't the first to criticize the President, and he won't be the last.

For good reason. There are few Republicans with a moral backbone left.

If you like a good mystery spy story, read this article. I don't know who this guy is who writes this blog but he must have some inside knowledge. Always very detailed. Also read the comments -- very intelligent and informative. I bet a lot of them work in DC.
