Nope. A six pack of beer in Canada is close to $20. You are paying for that “free” service. A pack of cigarettes is $15 to $18.

And yet you can’t enjoy that beer whatsoever if you’re dead.

No its not free.

When you figure out how to create a "free" health care system, go accept your nobel peace prize.

Nope. Unless some sort of premium premium.

This from the St. Albert Gazette in Alberta:

Quit talking things you know nothing about.

More like $12.95 for a six pack of cans of a popular national brand. I took a look at the Ontario prices for Molson Canadian, and found that a six pack of bottles is on sale for $11.50:

Of course, those prices are in Canadian dollars, but converting C$12.95 to US dollars at today's rate, works out to be US$9.38. Pretty far from $20 in either currency.

I can't speak exactly to the price of cigarettes, but a friend smokes a mid-price brand. I think he pays about $16 for a pack of 25 smokes (Canadian dollars again). He could smoke a cheaper brand or a more expensive one. So I'd guess we'd need to widen that range, from $13 to $18 (US$9.75 to US$13.50) for a pack of 25.

I think they are talking about American brands, not ones I have never heard of.

And how much are cigs?

Imported American beer, or American brands brewed in Canada? I found Canadian-brewed Budweiser for C$13.15 ($US9.87) per six pack of cans, and a six pack of cans of Canadian-brewed Coors Light for C$12.95 (US$9.38).

We don't get many imported US beers, but I was able to find a six pack of cans of imported Coors Banquet for C$15.95 (US$11.97). Looks like imported Miller High Life isn't available in a six pack of cans, but a 12-pack of bottles will set you back C$21.95 (US$16.47).

Nova Scotia, eh? Looking at the NSLC website, I see six bottles of Bud for C$14.49 (US$10.87). And 30 cans of Bud for C$51.99 (US$39.02).
