Businessmen who deal with it do. Thats not Trump. He does real estate and TV. He knows less then the average politician about this. And that is neither here nor there. The real question is can he hire people who understand this, and can negotiate it. So far I don't have a lot of faith in it given many of his hires.

They also know how to negotiate, and realize the incredible leverage our U.S. market generates.

Seems our brethren on the right believe that explaining the facts of the matter is trash talking.

Wonder what they call spreading lies and falsely accusing others of crimes.

Anyone know?

"In a huge victory for the Trump administration’s tough talk on trade with China, the communist country has announced it will cut import tariffs on a range of consumer items including apparel, cosmetics, home appliances, and fitness products starting from July 1. The concession was announced by the State Council, equivalent to the cabinet, this week though it received little to no coverage by American news outlets who had criticized President Trump’s tactics on negotiating more fair trade policies with China."
The decision, which was announced after a state council meeting led by Chinese premier Li Keqiang, aims to further open China’s consumer market, the central government said in a statement.

You probably won't hear about this from MSM.

And what we likely won't hear from Trump fans is Ivanka getting her Chinese trademarks, financing for a certain project in Indonesia, and Trump fighting for Chinese jobs in a company labeled a security threat by US agencies.

Real estate is not business? TV is not business?

He made his own money and is worth more money than any politician - yet they know more than him, how business works.

I guess next - you will claim how Obama, who has never ran anything outside of a classroom before becoming a politician, knows more than Trump as well.

It occurs to me that Trump is using the running game in a match between US and the world. He is running the ball, picking up a yard here, a few there, getting pushed back, etc. It is a game of inches and he is slowly making progress working his way down the field. Same in DC.

Not JUST a security threat. But they also violated the Iran sanctions. So keep that in mind that as Trump is talking tough about Iran, he is trying to protect a Chinese company that broke the Iran sanctions.

On topic though...China is not going to blink on anything that matters. They view themselves (correctly) as the rising world power, and they will fight back on anything that they think might impede that rise. Even if that rise is at our expense.

Go read what I said. TV and Real estate do not prepare you for tariff and trade discussions. Politicians spend more time with this then Trump does, so yeah Obama knew them better. But guess what? Neither of them know them well enough to handle them intelligently. This in the end is all about the ability to hire people that do.

Trump has more experience with CRM data systems then any politician generally. But when it comes time to add new data fields, and rewrite the flows of the system he will hire someone else. Same with this. Tariffs and economics of nations are not simple things. Trying to act like Trump has some special insight to this is like saying a toddler would be a great president because they have more experience with poop.
