Or..he see the handwriting on the wall..and want's to get his agenda through before the slim R majority slips away!

So Trump signed this bill, but is also pushing Republicans to vote against a bipartisan bill that would provide funding for the project. The White House only wants this to work if funding is cut from places they want it cut to provide the funds.

Even the Military Times was hesitant in praising this heavily.

So we don't even have funding secured yet, Trump wants to block the bipartisan bill that would have provided it. On top of that, the Military is worried that this will be used to outsource more and more VA work to unqualified but cheaper doctors.

There is always more than meets the eye.

Beat me to it...nice headline and photo op..but without the funding..it's meaningless. BTW..Veteran's Choice has been a thing for a while now...good for the first two quarters of the fiscal year..then the money runs out..and so does the choice..this is no different.

Yes..the ultimate Conservative plan is to privatize the VA and kill it. Always has been and still is.

What republican super majority in congress?

I do recall a super majority in 2009 when the democrats without a singe republican vote passed Obamacare after a year of liberal infighting. A super majority that didn't touch their magical immigration reform.

You may call a republican HC proposal a non-plan but at least if was a step above the ACA.

Hundreds of Obama rallies? I recall one and that one was about Obamacare. Try again, and bring facts with you next time.

In Obama first year:

Obviously all the campaign rallies for Hillary didn't effect the voters.

U.S. Senate Republicans block veterans' health bill on budget worry
Obama and friends tried. Republicans weren't having it.

They blocked some 500 bills while Obama was President. (well according to Obama -- so let's say that is a generous number)

Glad to see our politicians getting something constructive done. This should have been one of the first things done last year but better late than never right.

We weren't told any of this prior, and the Veterans Choice program were the ones who set up the surgery with the surgeon and anesthesiologist in the first place

I absolutely think expanding Veterans Choice is a good thing, but based on our experience, I hope they get their act together.

Anyway, that's the end of my rant!

I'm not a Trump supporter but I do support anything that helps Veterans, so, I'm pleased with this, providing they improve the program.
I agree. There are so many loopholes and restrictions that it almost isn't worth the headache. I use the Choice program for Pain Management but everything that is a recommended treatment from the outside PM has to be communicated to back to the VA then sent back to the outside PM which takes as much time as if I would have seen the VA in the 30-day time frame. It's exhausting. I also have to see a specialist which the VA has no problem telling me 45-60 days but don't worry U of M wait is 6 months!

Trump wants to cut veterans disability benefits and use those funds to pay for VA Privatization. And Trumps privatization plan would cut veterans with disabilities benefits by nearly two-thirds.

Trump has ended programs that house homeless veterans.

Trump plans to cut the "unemployability benefit" for veterans. Trump's proposed cuts would impact about 225,000 veterans and take $3.6 billion dollars from them, and Trump wants to transfer that funding to profit-making medical providers.

Trumps healthcare policies if enacted would cause an estimated 579,000 veterans to loose their Medicaid coverage within a decade.

And Trump has already transferred the funding for the above veterans programs to the richest 1% of Americans via the Trump tax cuts.
