If Uncle Sam wants something of yours he will take it. In this case its Trumps Red Coats stealing the life savings of an individual with no proof whatsoever of any wrongdoing. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...=.729326464c87

A 64-year-old Cleveland man is suing U.S. Customs and Border Protection after agents strip-searched him at an airport in October and took more than $58,000 in cash from him without charging him with any crime, according to a federal lawsuit filed this week in Ohio.
Customs agents seized the money through a process known as civil asset forfeiture, a law enforcement technique that allows authorities to take cash and property from people who are never convicted or even charged with a crime. The practice is widespread at the federal level. In 2017, federal authorities seized more than $2 billion in assets from people, a net loss similar in size to annual losses from residential burglaries in the United States.

Yup. This has been a ongoing issue for decades. Sessions has revived it, and pushed to expand it, but most Americans I think find it abusive and abhorrent. A recent case has came up though.
If you don't know what that means: Blog | Supreme Court of the United States
TLDR version-the supreme court may discuss if they will hear the case. Odds are low however.
But lets hope it gets granted cert. Like you I find this insanely abusive, and a affront to our rights.
greywar is right, this has been going on since the RICO act was signed into law by nixon in oct of 1970. it was originally intended to deal with criminals like drug dealers and the mafia, but has since been expanded by the courts to include most acts committed by normal law abiding citizens. and you can be tagged by things like carrying too much money on you, especially if you cant prove how you earned that money.
This is a terrible practice and one that most people cannot fight. Assets should only be seized if a conviction is made and only the assets gained by the convicted person's illegal activity.
They do this to force people to use banks to transfer money so the banks can take a huge portion of people's money. Many people take the risk when they relocate or need to move a large sum of money for their business. It is right out theft. This does not prove we don't own anything, it proves that corporations (banks in this case) control how we live.
Legalized theft. And since local agencies get to keep it and give a cut to the Feds, isn't that motivation to find something suspicious enough to seize property?
I think this is one of those topics where there is a ton of bi-partisan support. I dont know a single person in my friends that supports this. Not one.
omg, this has always been true. Don't pay your property taxes and see what happens.
You do know....this is not the topic here at all. Right?
