You're right, diplomacy works by talking things through with one another, and being fair with policies.

The EU levies more tax on US imports than we do on them. They also pay less into NATO, which means we provide much of the security umbrella for them while they spend their money on lavish social programs.

And somehow WE are bad for asking them to step up and pay their fair share into NATO, and arrange fairer trade deals that don't put US businesses at a disadvantage right out of the gate. Yeah... makes a lot of sense.

Russia did something bad and is being punished.

The cheeto wants to reward them.

I thought that's how snowflakes are born!

According to the idiot Trump, Canada burned down the WH in the War of 1812.

I never said anything about renegotiating international agreements, treaties or policies.

Did you read the post to which I responded?

The argument being made is that we should be closer with our enemies than our friends. That's pure malarkey.

Please show me one post where I said that the US shouldn't be looking for trade deals that benefit us. By us, I mean America, not you there in Russia.
Uh, you are the one defending the EU here, not me. You are the one appeasing Putin by pitting the EU against the US over trade deals that clearly favor the EU. You are the one who believes Trump is wrong for wanting to renegotiate FAIRER trade deals with our allies.

By all accounts, you are the one taking a pro-Russia stance here, not me.

You want war in the Ukraine, go ahead and isolate Putin.
Exactly. Trump has already shown considerable foreign policy acumen. Remember, he's taking advice from Kissinger on Russia, among other things.

QUEBEC CITY — French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday threatened to join with other world leaders to issue a rare rebuke of the United States at a global summit here this weekend, drawing immediate and sharp replies from President Trump.

Macron threatened to exclude the United States from the joint statement issued every year at the end of the Group of Seven summit of industrial democracies, as part of an international pushback against Trump’s efforts to change trade rules.

“The American President may not mind being isolated, but neither do we mind signing a 6 country agreement if need be,” Macron wrote on Twitter. “Because these 6 countries represent values, they represent an economic market which has the weight of history behind it and which is now a true international force.”

The exchange highlighted President Trump’s contrasting negotiating approaches to allies and adversaries. The president traded barbs with the French president just hours after his administration relaxed its punishment of the Chinese telecom company ZTE, a concession that could pave the way for a trade deal with China.
In contrast, Trump has shown a willingness to conciliate China in hopes of a trade deal he can bill as a major achievement.

Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) introduced legislation Wednesday that would block the president from imposing tariffs on national security grounds — like those Trump levied on the European Union, Mexico and Canada — without congressional approval. After 17 months of tumult in U.S. trade policy, Corker’s bill represents the most assertive congressional response to date.

The DESPOT Trump, prefers communists like China...... as long as his American-HATING- MOB-Family can get their CRAP made in their sweatshops!

Bob Corker for President!
Trump is proving to be a disaster for most everyone except for billionaires and PUTIN......

time and time again Trump's actions harm the US long term and aid PUTIN . Just look how PUTIN is currently laughing at Trump's tariffs and telling the EU how he "told them so"...

Trump and Trumpism will go down in history as Putin and Russia's biggest post WWII win.

The War of 1812 - the war where the US thought they could invade and annex Canada while England was preoccupied fighting Napoleon. They plundered Toronto and set fire to the Legislature buildings, couldn't hold Canada, and were forced back to the US. England retaliated with a raid on Washington & burning of the White House.
The US couldn't hold a country after invasion, and supported a dictator (Napoleon). Sound familiar?

But that's just all kinds of crazy. Trade war or no, the EU and USA still have excellent relations. A hot war between the two is straight out of fairy tale land. It'd take a lot more than that to put us on the path to an actual war.

You must be joking!~The U.S. CAN'T, AND HASN'T WON A WAR SINCE WE USED NUKES IN WW2!
