It was clumsy; but, she was pointing to the 74th anniversary ceremonies (and the Marshall Plan)... not the actual invasion.

Then it wood seem if she had half-a-brain she would've mentioned the Marshall Plan (along with the Berlin Air Lift) and not have even brought up D-Day.


Had she mentioned Hiroshima and Nagasaki as evidence of our strong bonds with Japan would you label that merely clumsy?

She did mention the Marshall Plan.

I know, and I'd say the Berlin Air Lift would've been a far greater indication of our "strong relationship" with Germany than D-Day, that is unless shooting each other is now considered a strong relationship.
