She's "French" because she's from France. And her mother did produce her papers quickly but the 19 year old was still held for 2 weeks.

If you have information to the contrary on any of this, it did not come either of the links in the original post
Yes, it did. It said the mother couldn’t prove that she belonged in Canada either.

What kind of a ditz has absolutely no awareness that she is near an international border and that she needs to take precautions?

These kinds perhaps:

And how were they treated, while not having passports or identifcation upon them and leaving behind a huge mess? Gee they were warmed up, fed and returned by bus the same day.

"They just made me feel so warm and comfortable," she said of her rescuers in a phone interview with The Washington Post. "If it wasn't for them, I don't know what would have happened to me."

Other floaters were just as grateful for the neighborly assistance.

"God bless Canada!" a raucous group shouted in a Canadian Coast Guard video posted by the CBC.

Well some of us have wanted to fix the immigration issue but the obstructionists have won. The Republicans are cowardly weasels and the leftist morons will declare propaganda victory here. The lefties actually celebrate these issues .Meanwhile the right seems happiest when they score propaganda points in the other direction. Hopefully it will be a pedophile next time because criminals pouring across the borders would be a conservative victory. After easing off and do the muh tolerance, sooner or later someone who is doing something bad like human trafficking or terrorism will occur and it may wildly swing in the direction of the patriot act.

Thus the problem at the border is making a clear and consistent policy, and it would include fixing any overbearing enforcement. However two sets of obstructionist lunatics don't want to fix the problem.

Mine is no story. According to the article she was detained until two weeks later when Canada allowed her to be readmitted to Canada.

Yet I was accused of making this up.

Why a wall is needed.

She was staying in a city very close to the border as it is.

But I'm sure all the local joggers there will make sure to migrate to Alert, Nunavut to do their jogging just to ensure they don't accidentally cross a nearly invisible border.

"Guilty" applies to crimes.

Not having ID on her is not a crime.
