What would have happened if the teacher just had a picture of her significant other on her desk and didn't specifically show her to the class. Would it have been passable then? Because back when I was in school, teachers had pictures of their spouses, children, and pets on their desks. I'm sure my wife does.
Yes but that was years ago. It is not acceptable, and unprofessional, to post photos of your family on a desk loaned to you for the purpose of work. Otherwise you could have one man with a dozen wives (think Utah) or someone married to a serial killer, it's just bad form all the way around. Totally unprofessional. Not about us when we are Teachers, it's about the students education
I guarantee you that half of the people who work at offices (who are "loaning" their desks) have pictures of their families on their desks.
The ultimate rule: US Constitution Supremacy Clause, Article VI.
"This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the Constitution or laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding."
Any local/state laws that violate Constitutional Rights are invalid.
Congress has tried several times to pass a law that protects LGBT from discrimination but it always fails in committee as it cannot override the Constitution.
Elementary aged children are simply too young to process this sort of information.
Unless the purpose of said information is to indoctrinate and propagandize.
But we all know teachers would never do that.
I would guess it had less to do with the fact she is gay or had a picture, and more to do with whatever she told the student about the relationship with the GF.
I notice that they have pointedly OMITTED the age of the child or what grade the child was in, as well as what the child was told. Interesting.
