The 2014 article simply says that Harley is targeting sales in Europe. It doesn't say anything about plans for moving production OUT of the USA for the European market.
That's what's happening now. They are moving production OUT of the USA and instead producing the product in Europe.
European sales is a growing market for Harleys. But prior to the tariff war, those Harley's were manufactured in the USA (MO, PA, WI) and shipped to Europe. Now those motorcycles will be manufatured in Europe instead of MO, PA, WI.
Is this the same HD who's sales are plummeting due to a saturated and dwindling market, so they are probably trying to find a way to be profitable again? Not even Miss Cleo saw this coming.
Wonder if Trump will visit those Harley workers after they are given their layoff notices when the jobs move from USA to Europe due to the new tariffs. Will he say anything about Harley moving jobs from the USA to Europe?

Nothing is easy in international affairs. However, finally we have a President who recognizes the huge leverage the American market, and American worldwide strength provides, as he is a businessman. The EU, and Asia have been unfairly taking advantage of us with regards to trade practices for several decades. We've been in a trade war, and losing since the 1960's.
It is time to stop rolling over for the EU, and Asia, and bring fairness, and jobs back to the U.S.

The motorcycle market it taking a beating across the board. Millennials ,for the most part, have zero interest in motorcycles, so I've read.
Yeah, not a majority of bikers, but a very loud and obnoxious segment have helped shift the perception of Harley among younger people from "cool" to "obnoxious d-bag". (Southpark pretty much nailed it with one episode about the word f*g)
