there are many companies that are unionized that are making money, giving raises, and expanding also. your point? My point being you are in a much better position to negotiate with a company if the work force is united and reaches a consensus on issues. It is not always pay...….it could be safety or hours of operation or many other things. If you were running a business would you not want to be presented with an idea or an issue that represents all your employees instead of a thousand individual issues? there are also times that unions come up with ideas that help employers streamline their operations...…….its not all adversarial.....

I know that here in California these public unions create a huge financial obligation to the taxpayers. Relatives that do menial low skill jobs for the state or individual cities that anywhere else would command minimum wage salaries.

They will go after minimum wage next. But this happens over time and Trump is just heating the water for the frogs.

Love this!

Join a union if you WANT to..........being forced to as a condition of employment/continued employment, bad idea.

I've asked this over and over without a response. How did they so badly miss on dismissing our rights in the cell phone case? Where does freely engaging in business with a private company negate your rights in the Constitution?

Unions are obsolete anyway. This isn’t the 19th century anymore if your employer isn’t treating you right you can just sue their ass. They also hurt your global competitiveness. Public unions are the worst form, not enough protection for taxpayers.

In a small city near me as a cost cutting measure instead of expanding the police force thy decided to hire meter readers for parking enforcement. This would allow the existing police force to do more police work and the menial task of reading meters is given to lower paid employee.

The police union sued and won, they ended up getting stipend for not reading parking meters. In other words they were getting paid to not do a job...We're not done yet because then the FF unions sued for same stipend and got it. So now the FF are getting paid to not do job they never did to begin with.

Of course this ended up costing the city more. Call me crazy but I would suggest that the public is really getting tired of things like this.
